Jacob Runyan and Chase Cominsky were indicted on multiple charges after a video showed their catch apparently stuffed with lead weights.
Two fishermen captured in a viral video appearing to scam an Ohio fishing tournament are on the hook for multiple crimes, including cheating, authorities said in announcing their indictments Wednesday.
Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley described the allegedly fishy conduct of Jacob Runyan, 42, and Chase Cominsky, 35, at last month’s Lake Erie Walleye Trail Tournament as “not only dishonorable but also criminal.”
Runyan and Cominsky were indicted on charges of attempted grand theft, cheating, possession of criminal tools and unlawful ownership of wild animals, O’Malley said in a news release.
Two fishermen were found to have weighed down their fish with lead weights in order to win a tournament in Cleveland.
The criminal tools charge stemmed from allegations the pair used Cominsky’s boat during the competition, the release said.
Authorities seized the vessel and its trailer Tuesday.

Their arraignment is scheduled for Oct. 26.

This has been in the news for at least a week. You’d think that they committed the Crime of the Century. They are dumbass Losers. Yes. But, lead weights in some fish being news for many days speaks volumes to me about the sad state of the “news” media.
what happened to teaching kids “It is not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game”
Seems like there was something fishy there.
This is a much bigger story than the Biden being proud of Hunter and his gun.
Hey!
The fish ate all those lead weights!
How were they supposed to know about that?
C’mon man!!!
I was thinking the same thing; we already know the story.
What else can possibly be said about it?
This goes under the catagory of Filler News, stories meant to distract and entertain the public, and redirect their attention away from the Biden In Blunderland Show.
The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, by Mark Twain, has a similar story!
my uncle actually was in that tourney years ago. The director Fischer (he’s the guy in shades in the video who told Runyan to get the F outa there and who actually opened the walleye ) is a good guy and gets along with all the sportsmen.
He tells us for many years this is “normal” at big money tourneys. They know for example, what the average weight is for walleye. And he specifically knows Runyan and Cominsky. There is no damn way you win 3 tourneys in a row and everyone in his sport knew something was up by the second time they won.
In some parts of the country fishing is a big deal..
My dad, years ago, entered a fishing
tournament during the dog days of
August, in Minnesota. He and his fishing
buddy tried to pull the same stunt but
we’re caught right away at weigh in. They
weren’t fined, but banned from any future
tournaments. Simple solution is to award
first place awards to the runner-ups and
ban these two from any future competitions.
I don’t understand all the turmoil.
First thing I thought of too, except in that story, the cheater sabotaged the competition’s frog with lead pellets rather than trying to enhance his own frog.
Never forget, folks, these idiots also vote.
what is the obsession with the cheating fisherman here? This keeps getting posted over and over.
we get it- they cheated. That happens sometimes.
A: Tens of thousands of dollars in prize money, hundreds of thousands in sponsorships and product endorsements, not to mention sunk costs of the boat, entry feee, etc.
What? They load Biden up with all sorts of drugs and stimulants to try to make him look sprightly and alert. That’s even worse cheating, because we are all being screwed over.
Use your own lines... Stop plagiarizing a world great...
Good point. Has anyone heard the MDM reporting on Tulsi Gabbard leaving the democrats? I haven’t.
Being as how this Cuyahoga County, isn’t stuffing fishes similar to stuffing ballot boxes ? ? ?
