Even Jeff Bezos' son is hoping Amazon's new "The Lord of the Rings" production is up to snuff.
The billionaire Amazon founder told the audience at the show premiere that his son warned him not to mess up the prequel series that debuts on Prime Video this Friday, Variety reported.
"After Amazon got involved in this project, my son came up to me one day, he looked me in the eyes, very sincerely, and he said: 'Dad, please don't eff this up,'" Bezos said, according to Variety. "And he was right. We know that this world is important to so many people, we know it's a privilege to work inside this world and we know it's a big responsibility."
Bezos has a 22-year-old son with his ex-wife, MacKenzie Scott.

Nothing can come close to the original LOTR trilogy......
I read the trilogy many years ago. I’ve seen the movies. But, I guess I don’t have as much invested in the purity of the fable as a lot do. I enjoy the series as entertainment. If they stopped producing it today I wouldn’t care much. But I will watch each episode as they come out.
Prequels usually do not work because they have nothing to offer. But The Hobbit was not a true prequel but it was a novel in the same universe LOTR was in.
It’s effed up. I’ve watched all the episodes so far. Bad writing, bad directing, bad editing. The acting and casting is mediocre. The pacing is so poor that I find myself skipping through the dead spots. I’ll finish the season, but I’m not sure if I’ll give the next season a try. If it weren’t based on Tolkein, I’m sure I wouldn’t.
Jackson’s Lord of the Rings was fantastic, but even he couldn’t repeat his success. The Hobbit was a short kids’ book stretched into three overly long films. That just didn’t work. Not sure who to blame for that, maybe it wasn’t Jackson’s fault. Might have been the studio trying to squeeze every dollar from the franchise.
The first sentence is a non-sequitur. But, I disagree. It does rightfully sets up the LOTR. FWIW, I have read both the Hobbit and all of the LOTR. They fit well together.
If you take a look at Star Wars, just one example I am pointing out here, you can tell that most people are not a fan of prequels. So with a story, usually you should go forward with it. What happens next? Instead of going back. Most of the time, it doesn’t work very well. Just my two cents.
Well, sorry Junior, but daddy effed it up, big time. Don’t worry though, cause you’ll never have to work a day in your life.
Yeah, right? Tyrion Lannister was one of the greatest TV characters ever. I could've watched a whole season of nothing but Tyrion and Lord Varys plotting, scheming, and drinking.
It wasn't. The studio demanded three "Hobbit" films.
There is a ton of symbolism in LOTR and it’s all layered and interwoven with each other, which is why it’s such a masterful work. It really should be part of a junior high to high school curriculum, imo. Make it summer reading over several summers and write a report when you return to school.
Mordor is symbolic of the Soviet Union, with the rest of Middle Earth being symbolic of the free West. Tolkien would have also been teaching that, since Sauron was a fallen Maiar, named Mairon, the source of the corruption that created Mordor did not come from Eru. He’s basically saying that communism’s origin is from the Devil.
Orcs are fallen elves and men who were corrupted by Sauron. What Tolkien is teaching about orcs is that all elves and all men can be corrupted if you believe in corrupted teachings. Any one of us could be turned into an orc, if we ended up believing corrupted teachings.
The Middle Earth is symbolic of the West, but only the West that has its origins in Christianity. Christianity is the source of the West’s ability to resist the Soviet Union or communism. If you forget that, you’ll eventually fall into the domain of Mordor (socialism)
The ring amplifies your desire to do good, to the point where the level of good you want to accomplish actually proves harmful. Liberals are corrupt, but they still want to do good. But if we went full liberal, it would prove harmful. Just as those who fall sway to the ring cannot be talked out of exercising their increased power to do good, liberals cannot be talked out of using liberalism to do good, until we have millions dead.
The hobbits are people who don’t want to use earthly power over others. They just want to live their simple lives and be responsible for themselves. The reason why they are so resistant to the power of the ring is because they have no desire to gain power over men in order to do good.
What Tolkien is saying is that the only protection against being corrupted is the Catholic doctrines guiding you and not desiring to use power to accomplish good.
Jackson knew that the Hobbit only needed two films to cover, but the studio demanded three films.
“House of the Dragon” is doing its best to stick to what Game of Thrones fans liked. So far I they get a lot of credit.
Two movies were sufficient for The Hobbit.
Lets see, Black elves, Interracial dwarf couple, disjointed plots hard to follow. Lame dialog, Harfoots instead of hobbits with black Harfoots speaking with an Irish accent. Boring heart to heart conversations between leading characters. Quit watching it after 4 episodes.
You made it that far?
Oh yes... that was excellent. Thx
