De Corte was not physically injured in the attack, but endured years of panic attacks and depression afterward, the Mirror reported.
She tried to kill herself twice, in 2018 and 2020, and posted regularly on social media about her struggles.
“With all the medications I take, I feel like a ghost that can’t feel anything anymore. Maybe there were other solutions than medications,” she wrote in one post, according to the Belgian news site RTBF.
De Corte, then 23, chose to be euthanized earlier this year, which is legal in Belgium. She died on May 7 after two psychiatrists signed off on her request.

I can barely imagine How much anxiety, depression, and survival guilt can one person keep inside till it breaks them. Also, being a doctor to sign off on this knowing you could not help to bring a child to a healthy place. Tough road for all. May her peace be blessed.

Doctors had her on 11 different medications to treat her PTSD and anxiety. Probably these drugs scrambled her brains.

I agree the medication likely screwed up her thinking all the more - even she admitted so. Had they done a clean flush of all those over a period of time she probably would have experienced more normality than even before the bombing - which I really don't think was her core problem. She had problems before that. I also think the mothr just got tired of dealing with her. hus asy to support her taking hr life just to free herself from dealing with her.
A stark admission psychotherapy doesn’t work.

I don’t usually say this, but on this topic, I can’t sit here in my comfortable home and condemn her or pass judgement on what she “should have” been thinking.
Were she my daughter, I would have fought for her recovery by whatever means. I would have prayed for her.
She should go to a children’s cancer ward.
