As a child I met Chief Halftown.

Met Uncle Pete Boyle who hosted morning kids show, while at local 4H Fair.

Saw Don Adams at Steel Pier in Atlantic City.

While at CPAC Tony Snow invited a group of Freepers who followed the Tony Snow Threads to come visit his FOX studio. Took him up on it. We got the tour and sat down in his office with him for over an hour. Met Surfer Boy (Griff Jenkins) while there

Took part in sidewalk protest with Dr. Raoul in front of WH when the bent one was president.

Got up early to go to Radio Row and met Ollie North. Asked if I could take his photo. Said we could do better than that and had one of his friends take photo of us together.

Sat at table with Jane Russell and General Slingbau(sp) at CPAC.

Went to Maryland House and while in line for a hamburger met Justice Alito he was in hearings to become member of SCOUS at the time.

The contracts manager at General Dynamics where I worked in Tallahassee had a photo of Ted Bundy in a silver frame on her desk. I recognized him instantly I asked why, and she said that he had tried to pick her up in bar near FSU on the night he killed several students in a dorm on campus. I don’t recall the reason she had the photo though.

Once, quite a few years ago, my sister-in-law was watching her daughter’s gymnastics class. She got to talking with a small blonde woman standing next to her, and during the conversation my SIL was doing a bit of critiquing of the students. After the other woman left, someone asked my SIL if she knew who that was. Turns out she had been lecturing Cathy Rigby on the finer points of gymnastics.

In 2001, I participated in my first National Veterans Wheelchair Games, in NYC.

One of the events I competed in was Wheelchair Softball. We took the bronze.

So as we were getting ready for the team photo, who should appear but Bo Derek!

She decided she was going to join us in the team photo. Stood right next to me!

OMG!!! She smelled as good as she looked! And she looked delicious!!!

Saw Joe Franklin crossing an avenue in Manhattan. He really is that short.

Saw John Kasich, Pat Schroeder, Chris Shays and a few other a$$hat politicians in the building I worked in in Connecticut in the 90s. They all used the same PR firm, apparently.

Almost hit Julianna Margulies with my car on either 47th or 49th street in Manhattan, when she walked out in front of my car against the light.

But my #1 is: Got to shake Chuck Yeager's hand at Oshkosh in '95. That was cool!

My grandpa met Frank James.

I had a friend in Arizona who told me that his grandpa, when a boy, saw Wyatt Earp out and about in what is now Earp, California (across the river from Parker, Arizona). His grandpa told him that he was a little intimidated by Wyatt, as he had a very cold manner about him and a very cold stare. I’ve read that many others thought the same thing.

I’ve met a few interesting people. The most famous was Dr. Stephen Hawking. I was his waiter, and it was just him, his nurse, and me in the room.

Got a private after-hours tour of the White House from a Secret Service agent when I was in DC at 16 years old. Long story. Reagan was President, and when we arrived he was holding a press conference, so the agent brought us in through the basement entrance, where we ran in to James Baker, Reagan’s Chief of Staff at the time. He shook hands with us and we made brief small talk. Then the agent took us into the Secret Service command center in the White House to get us out of the way of all the reporters. A big wrap-around console desk like out of the Starship Enterprise with all kinds of security monitors, and closets full of shotguns, Uzis and gas masks. The agents in the command center all said that every Secret Service agent wanted to drop-kick Sam Donaldson into the Reflecting Pool. :D

When I was a 6-month-old baby in the hospital (dehydration), the next crib over was Officer Joe Bolton's son.

He used to host a kid's show on NY's WPIX. A Three Stooges short and a Krazy Kat cartonn every weekday

I was born and raised in Jimmy Stewart’s home town of Indiana, PA. After VJ day, Stewart was on the cover of LIFE magazine with an article on his homecoming and a little profile of our town. His last trip back there was for his 75th birthday in 1983. I was a teenager at the time and got to shake his hand.

I met Moe Howard from the Three Stooges. That was back in the mid-1960s.
It’s been pretty much downhill since then.

A friend of mine had a DUI and had to attend an alcohol safety course. Sunny Jurgensen (QB for the Washington Redskins at the time) was in his group.
He would tell folks he went to school with Sunny.

Hitchhiking in 1974, I ended up being dropped off in downtown Chicago. Eighteen years old, long hair and backpack, wandering around trying to figure out how to get out of town when I was approached three times by a guy. He asked what I was doing. I explained I was trying to get out of town in order to start hitchhiking home. He offers to drive me to his house, feed me and put me on the highway. Of course, my gaydar is pinging off the scale. I eventually tell him to FO. I get a train to Gary, walk to the highway and hitchhike home. Two or three years later I’m watching the news and I see this guy being paraded out of jail in shackles, John Wayne Gacy!

I wore the POW bracelet for Lt Col Sam Johnson. He was friends with our neighbors. My parents met him at a party after he came home. When we were visiting Texas A&M to see my brother march with the corps, my parents saw Lt Col Johnson there. I got to meet him. I had to shake his left hand because his right hand was broken. I was in 6th grade, so I guess 11. He was my hero! He because US Congressman Sam Johnson.

My best friend growing up is US senator Kay Bailey Hutchison’s step-daughter. Her Dad, Ray Hutchison, was big in Texas politics. I remember riding in the back of a pick up truck putting up campaign signs for him. I also remember him explaining Watergate to us kids. Interestingly, he attended Nixon’s funeral. I only met Kay once when I was in college.

Ron Howard made his first movie at my high school, Cotton Candy. Met him and all of his family. Lots of the actors hung out in the band hall with us kids. They were very nice, except for Charlie Martin Smith

US Representative, Tom Campbell, lived near my neighborhood in California. I met him grocery shopping several times. He was very nice, especially to the grocery store employees.

Met US Representative Zoe Lofgren when she visited a school I volunteered at. She did not impress me.
