I don’t recall the reason she had the photo though.
Once, quite a few years ago, my sister-in-law was watching her daughter’s gymnastics class. She got to talking with a small blonde woman standing next to her, and during the conversation my SIL was doing a bit of critiquing of the students. After the other woman left, someone asked my SIL if she knew who that was. Turns out she had been lecturing Cathy Rigby on the finer points of gymnastics.

I had a friend in Arizona who told me that his grandpa, when a boy, saw Wyatt Earp out and about in what is now Earp, California (across the river from Parker, Arizona). His grandpa told him that he was a little intimidated by Wyatt, as he had a very cold manner about him and a very cold stare. I’ve read that many others thought the same thing.

Got a private after-hours tour of the White House from a Secret Service agent when I was in DC at 16 years old. Long story. Reagan was President, and when we arrived he was holding a press conference, so the agent brought us in through the basement entrance, where we ran in to James Baker, Reagan’s Chief of Staff at the time. He shook hands with us and we made brief small talk. Then the agent took us into the Secret Service command center in the White House to get us out of the way of all the reporters. A big wrap-around console desk like out of the Starship Enterprise with all kinds of security monitors, and closets full of shotguns, Uzis and gas masks. The agents in the command center all said that every Secret Service agent wanted to drop-kick Sam Donaldson into the Reflecting Pool. :D
He used to host a kid's show on NY's WPIX. A Three Stooges short and a Krazy Kat cartonn every weekday
I was born and raised in Jimmy Stewart’s home town of Indiana, PA. After VJ day, Stewart was on the cover of LIFE magazine with an article on his homecoming and a little profile of our town. I met Moe Howard from the Three Stooges. That was back in the mid-1960s.
It’s been pretty much downhill since then.
How come so many psycho killers have Wayne for a middle name? Or first name?
Hitchhiking in 1974, I ended up being dropped off in downtown Chicago. Eighteen years old, long hair and backpack, wandering around trying to figure out how to get out of town when I was approached three times by a guy. He asked what I was doing. I explained I was trying to get out of town in order to start hitchhiking home. He offers to drive me to his house, feed me and put me on the highway. Of course, my gaydar is pinging off the scale. I eventually tell him to FO. I get a train to Gary, walk to the highway and hitchhike home. Two or three years later I’m watching the news and I see this guy being paraded out of jail in shackles, John Wayne Gacy!
I wore the POW bracelet for Lt Col Sam Johnson. He was friends with our neighbors. My parents met him at a party after he came home. I only met Kay once when I was in college.
