Our speaker, Professor Jeffrey Sachs, addresses the war in Ukraine’s impact on climate change and global food security and will outline the pathway to a negotiated peace in Ukraine.

He is a world-renowned economics professor, bestselling author, innovative educator, and global leader in sustainable development.

The globalists, including the Democrat party and the Rinos, don’t want peace.

he’s right, but then he is the Pope’s “climate” adviser, and a “climate” zealot, and he no doubt has been horrified by Big Pharma and now Big Military getting all the $$$, when the “climate” mob were hoping to get it all.

$150 trillion was the most recent figure the “climate” mob were hoping for.

I think just about everyone everyone - including the globalists - wants peace. The difference is in the terms/outcomes they find acceptable.

just to show I wasn’t exaggerating:

28 Oct 2021: Yahoo: Fighting climate change is a $150 trillion battle: Bank of America report
by Ihsaan Fanusie
A recent Bank of America (BAC) Global Research Report found that, within a 30-year period, global carbon emissions could reach zero at a cost of $5 trillion per year...

one - only the US can print all this money! two, the BoA report is full of lies about solar/wind being the cheapest form of energy etc. great for China.

Jeffrey Sachs is also the most prominent mainstream questioner of the COVID-19 narrative. He actively speaks up in favor of the lab leak theory, unequivocally pointing out the lying and covering up by the NIH and major virologists regarding gain-of-function research. He strongly suggests that COVID-19 was designed intentionally in a joint US-Chinese project, that it leaked from the lab in Wuhan, and that those facts (and the danger of gain-of-function research) have been systematically suppressed.

Sachs also says that the US was responsible for the Nord Stream sabotage.

I think it’s fair to say that Sachs is on the left economically, but he does seem to be one of the few honest people on the left.

Meh, “the global battle against human-induced climate change”.
Stopped reading right there.

There can be no negotiated settlement because neither side will believe the other, signatures regardless.

The only conceivable end remains a military coup in Ukraine. The US and UK know this and will restrict senior military from relevant buildings.

Sachs has long been an apologist for Russia and Putin. I do not need to listen to a 45 minute video to know his formula for a negotiated peace: give Putin what he wants.

I have written here multiple times that I don’t care for either side in the Russo-Ukraine war.

But I like negotiated peace deals even less. Fight until one side gives up. If there is no winner an armistice just sets up the next war. Either Russia surrenders, or Ukraine does.

“The only conceivable end remains a military coup in Ukraine”

You have a very limited imagination. Consider for instance the much more likely idea of a military coup in Russia ending the war.

The problem with all of this is that the most obviously anti-peace segment in the whole mess is Russia.

You’ve got one faction that is pretty much determined to inflict total defeat on Ukraine, and then start hitting other countries, and Make Russia Great Again by dragging the Warsaw Pact region under direct Moscow control.

The gung-ho enthusiasm for that project goes beyond Kadyrov talking about his Chechens brawling all the way to Germany; on Telegram they’re talking about Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, and Moldova. Some even think Finland ought to be next.

The other faction can’t seem to articulate exactly what it’s after, but is responsible for the mentalism of the first faction. Putin’s in this camp. For years he’s banged on about the historical unity of the Slavic peoples, and if they won’t unite by general surrender then by God he’s going to kneecap them until they’re grateful.

So “don’t want peace” is relative.

Saying Russia wants peace even as one faction fighting for control of the military vision of Russia is itching to pop a nuke off into Ukraine AND has a vision of the RF flag flying over gulags across all of the upstart countries that got independence in 1991, is a bit like the bit in Mars Attacks! when the peaceniks keep trying to reconcile the translator screeching out “We come in peace” while the aliens are smashing the USA to bits.

--- "If there is no winner an armistice just sets up the next war. Either Russia surrenders, or Ukraine does."

Kudos for your clarity. While there are those cheering for a side -- either side -- while denigrating voices who wish to not "play" in this debacle, the outcome is as you foresee. One side must lose to the other.

Given the detestable actors in this truly historical play, all bets are off except one. The "sanctions" game has hamstrung economies here in the West as in Europe, and the Biden administration and von der Leyen "commission" have done little except hammer their own citizenry in the ongoing struggle. Messaging that prosperity for Europeans and Americans should lessen in order to continue and even increase sanctions back-firing and attacking our economies is far more "WEF" than freedom loving.

Clearly much less likely because the Russian military functions within the National Security Council. This entity is similar to a subset of the US cabinet, excluding departments like education, etc. The foreign ministry is part of the security council.

Most important, in contrast to Ukraine, the intelligence apparatus is exterior to the defense ministry. Ukraine’s are part of the defense ministry. The Russian Security Council thereby has internal surveillance of the military as well as inclusion within decision making.

Ukraine’s military contains the intelligence apparatus. It’s only oversight is a parliamentary committee.

There really is no comparison about indigenous coup likelihood. The only real impediment would be the necessity of killing off CIA personnel on site trying to prevent it.

Russia doesn't have to, and never would, "surrender". Russians own territory was never at issue except in lame Russian propaganda. But it can do like it did in Afghanistan and just "leave".

There's always an "off-ramp" if you want out badly enough. Hell, Putin could say that he was tricked into this was war by a lying cabal of secretly pro-U.S. advisors who knew it would fail. The best way to defeat them and their planned coup is to end the war. Maybe even accuse them of wanting to start a nuclear war that would destroy the Russian people.

Sure, everyone would know it was kinda B.S. and that he was throwing others under the bus to save his own ass. But since everyone else would want the damn war to end, they wouldn't much care.
