The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) denounced as “classic anti-Semitism” remarks by the rapper Kanye West, who in a radio interview last week attempted to explain President Obama’s inability to gain momentum on his policy priorities in Washington, D.C. with the outrageous statement that, “Black people don’t have the same level of connections as Jewish people.”
“If the comments are true as reported, this is classic anti-Semitism,” said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director. “There it goes again, the age-old canard that Jews are all-powerful and control the levers of power in government. As a celebrity with a wide following, Kanye West should know better. We hope that he will take responsibility for his words, understand why they are so offensive, and apologize to those he has offended.”

That's exactly what happened to my extended family.
Some families will disown a child if that child insists on going against parental advice. Adivice for career choice, for a marriage choice. For an investment choice. This could happen with any race or ethnicity. Even if there is a truce, years down the line, the basic trust and concern for the other’s happiness may never be as strong as it once was.

I agree with you, and am glad you see that as a positive thing. I would venture to say that the Jews are the most unusual socio-cultural phenomenon in all history. 25-30 years ago I was at a theology seminar when some smug atheist challenged the panel to “site the slightest evidence of the existence of G-D.” A CATHOLIC BISHOP answered him, “You have only to look at the Jewish People, homeless, scattered to the far corners of the Earth, vilified, persecuted, driven from land to land, reviled, murdered, for century upon century, yet still intact. Still faithful to their G-D, Law and Culture, when other peoples have risen and then disappeared. What could have sustained them but G-D? What more proof does anyone need?(Of course I’m paraphrasing what I remember) The atheist was stunned silent, and the impression it made on me is part of me now. A Jewish theology lesson from a CATHOLIC BISHOP!

True, and astute. Unfortunately, even the JEWS seduced by the left are racists, sexists, and anti-semites, and I think that they, and most leftists (except for the true lunatic fringe who really don’t know what’s real or not), know exactly what dishonest hypocrites they are. Most conservatives can accept a person being wrong about something, or in good faith having an opinion that differs from our own, but we can’t abide a lying hypocrite. We know what they are, they are ashamed to be what they are, so they hate us for knowing. Human Nature 101.

Are they seriously bitching about his statement that blacks don’t have ‘a connection’ like Jews? That Jews don’t consider themselves a ‘a race’ - they are ‘a people’? I am a Christian and I understood what he said. Seems to me someone wants some attention and a payoff.
There was nothing anti semitic about that statement. It also happens to be true. Jews to their credit, have been highly successful in a number of fields. Rather than denying that fact, it would be more fruitful to ask wny.
Gosh...what are divorce rates like among Jews? How many are raised by single mothers? Rates of drug use? Rates of criminality? How about education - how do Jews do there?
Oh. Gosh, maybe that’s why. Maybe others could learn something from that.
