Explanation: At opposition, opposite the Sun in Earth's sky, late last month Jupiter is also approaching perihelion, the closest point to the Sun in its elliptical orbit, early next year. That makes Jupiter exceptionally close to our fair planet, currently resulting in excellent views of the Solar System's ruling gas giant. On September 27, this sharp image of Jupiter was recorded with a small telescope from a backyard in Florence, Arizona. The stacked video frames reveal the massive world bounded by planet girdling winds. Dark belts and light zones span the gas giant, along with rotating oval storms and its signature Great Red Spot. Galilean moon Ganymede is below and right in the frame. The Solar System's largest moon and its shadow are in transit across the southern Jovian cloud tops.
PS... if... if this is that good of telescope, where are the other moons? where are the other stars?? The picture is a lie. as is the case with most APODs
lol..Some astrophotographers are producing unbelievable images today. Their work is awesome, thanks in a big part to technology available today, like tracking systems, optics, cameras, data processing etc...
Now that's funny...What a hoot!☺
how about the fake pictures man? or are you gonna sit there and tell me there isnt any on APOD? the issue is with fake picture, not apod being for children. though children wouldnt know a fake picture from a real one... but an adult would... ...or should...
Some images which are enhanced or manipulated are disclosed in their descriptions on that site and I have read them several times. I don’t think anyone is attempting to hide anything.
True!
Please don’t discourage these submissions.
I don’t know anything about the optical quality of modern consumer telescopes, so can’t comment on that issue. But as a semi pro photographer, you are 100% correct about the APODs. The worst one I’ve seen recently was Sep 28, Furious Sky Over Mount Shasta. I could live with the Star Glow filter they used, but not the composited nebula and the fact they blew the MW up about 4times. Or took it with a different focal length lens. There’s no way the MW is seen that large from Earth.
That is no moon. That is a Death Star.
You can see where they test fired on Jupiter where the red spot is.
I find most of the images that were taken from earth, with earth being a big part of the subject, to be manipulated. By the way in the APOD image you mentioned, they did disclose the image had been manipulated, a composite etc.
“Hello Boys, I Missed You !”

Those Are Real, What’s the Problem?

A little Friday nite distraction while I paint my nails,,,
What’s the problem??
Gret big ol’ Harvest Moon setting this morning before daylight.
There are no stars, so it must be fake :)
