LINDSEY GRAHAM: "I do NOT want to see Elon Musk become the Henry Ford of our time"
twitter ^ | Oct 6 | Sen. Lindsey Graham

Posted on 10/06/2022 9:18:48 AM PDT by RandFan

@LindseyGrahamSC

When I say I respect @elonmusk I’m not kidding.

I’ve known him for years.

He’s done amazing things by launching satellites to make America competitive in space and producing modern, high-performance electric vehicles.

His Starlink system has also helped in Ukraine.

My concern with his Russian “peace” proposal is he is legitimizing one of the greatest crimes of the 21st century by Putin.

I do NOT want to see Elon Musk become the Henry Ford of our time:

▶️ Great industrialist.

▶️ Genius manufacturer.

▶️ Gives voice to evil in pursuit of peace.

Russia must adhere to the boundaries they agreed to in the 1994 Budapest Memorandum where Ukraine gave up their nuclear weapons force — the third largest in the world — in return for assurances their territorial integrity would be protected.

To do otherwise is an insult to Ukraine and will set in motion even more chaos throughout the world.

Musk has his weird edges, but I don’t see his form of craziness to be any worse than what the rest of the woke choir is doing.

I do NOT want to see Elon Musk become the Henry Ford of our time:

And what is wrong with Henry Ford?
He's still one of the greatest industrialists this world has ever seen. Most Americans were opposed to joining WW 2 to start off with. And rightfully so too,

How many billions have gone to Ukraine? Nearing $100 billion now?

And Lindsay Graham voted for all of it.

How much has gone to our southern border or to hardening schools?

ZERO.

Lindsay can go eff himself.

Musk: Peace
Graham: War

That’s the simple take away I got from that.

Graham’s justification for war is the same one used for nearly every war since the beginning of time. No matter who it is, no matter how aggressive they are, they always seem to justify their actions by claiming their opponents have committed crimes or done bad things to them.

Graham has a point (stopped clock being right twice a day, and all that), but I think that Elon was pulling everyone’s chain a bit with that part of his proposal. More than anything, I think that he was trying to stimulate discussion, which he certainly did. The guy does think outside of the box,; after all, he wouldn’t be so rich if he didn’t.

The sheer arrogance just in general, of Americans talking about how other countries must obey this thing or that.

To which evil is he giving voice?

The Ukriane or Russia?

Or maybe both — in the search for peace?

Graham is correct about the protocols in 1994.

Putin argues that by violent replacement of a Russia friendly government in 2014, those protocols were negated as the current Ukrainian government is not legitimate, thus the agreement is null.

Musk merely suggested a pragmatic solution. He’s a pragmatist, you know? Solving problems with minimum cost is his forte.

Linseed would like to engage in costly paths that could end up costing the world its existence.

Pragmatists see that as a cost too high.

And Musk went further then launching satellites: he’s launching people at a tempo not seen in 50 years in the US, something that we could not do after 2011 due to reliance on the biggest white elephant in US history.

And Ford also sympathized with Hitler’s ideas on eugenics. That’s what Linda was talking about, and in this instance he isn’t off base. Where I find fault is that I don’t think that Elon was serious about letting Russia keep its I’ll-gotten gains.

Well...

Musk can be one without the other.

He can be Henry Ford of our times, if he’s so gifted in industry.

He could be wrong, and in fact, is, when it comes to foreign policy. Foreign policy is an area where one can be right one moment and wrong the next. Thus, the Henry Ford analogy fails at that point.

Musk should just provide the infrastructure for building and creating things, including improving Twitter. But, when it comes time for decision-making on foreign affairs, his opinion should not carry more weight than that of any other person who’s not directly involved in making such decisions.
