But, in my defense, we was just kids...
We were too.
I was 12, IIRC, and me and two of the Methodist preacher’s kids were playing ‘War’ behind the gym after school.
There was a big dirt pile there from construction and it had some dried out clay clods that you could throw and they would burst on impact into a cloud of dust. They were pretty harmless if you got hit, just making you dirty and dusty.
Then one of the kids threw a ROCK instead of a dirt clod and it hit me in the head right over my right eye just above the hairline. Hurt like hell!
It started bleeding profusely and I was crying. It left an 1 inch scar in my scalp for the rest of my life.
They looked at my face covered in blood and took off running for home.
I still have that scar to this day and since I am now bald, I see it every time I look in the mirror............
