Ongoing vandalism discourages business owners in downtown Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. — After moving from Portland's Old Town to downtown, Wyatt Savage was hopeful the level of crime wouldn't be quite so severe. But the owner at Pallet Portland is now considering a move to escape the ongoing challenges.

“In three months I’ve had four windows smashed, I’ve had somebody try and rip the front door of our gate off the hinges and it’s just been non-stop," Savage said.

"Even if we were all making tons of sales, with the amount of damages happening, you know, 40 thousand dollars in damages in four months is insane. Like, that’s a lot of money to just come up with," Savage said.

Kamelah Adams brought her business to Old Town in 2021. She decided to move all sales online after a robbery this summer and is now evaluating where to go next.

"To experience vandalism and robberies and burglaries it can be too much sometimes, and I do know that I’m not alone because I’ve talked to other retailers and there’s not enough support for retail at all," Adams said.

Exactly.

Ordinary people who find a riot and looting exploding all around them — their homes and places of work — should shoot rioters and looter and not wait for the government to save them.

And I would expect it to cut down on vandalism later.

Back to opposing rioters, it would actually be beneficial to form neighborhood groups AND perform some degree of training together when it comes to mustering, forming defensive barriers and positions as well as establish actual rules of engagement to at least try and rope in inevitable idiots you cannot identify before hand and relegate to support positions where they will get the group in less trouble.

The best way to not have to shoot rioters is for them to decide to go somewhere else, you see. Knowing they may suffer harm if they riot in your neighborhood encourages them to do just that.

LOL - no, I don’t support shooting rioters - well, unless you’re defending yourself. And I mean defending your life.

What people in Portland need to do is elect leaders who support citizens over criminals.

If folks in Portland can’t do that then they need to vote with their feet - - pack up and move someplace else. You couldn’t pay me to live in a democrat run hellhole.

Wanna stop this crap? Shoot the bad guys. A load of bird shot to the face is a great deterrent and not as messy as 00.

After moving from Portland's Old Town to downtown...

What's funny about this is that Old Town is just mere blocks from Downtown. If this story is true at all, it means this dolt thought moving several blocks would be enough to escape the madness, when the madness is everywhere.

Two idiots. One moved from Old Town to downtown and the other moved from downtown to Old Town.

Put a fence around Portland and make it a giant mental hospital.

Great Idea!!!

There needs to be a police force amongst our cities.

The cities in our country are overrun by Tents in our great cities and there needs to be police to get rid of these eye sores.

After the 2020 Summer Riots on State Street in Madistan, Wisconsin, 62 businesses left. Sixty Two!

And did not come back. And no one talks about it. No, ‘cause and effect’ is ever allowed inside of, ‘The People’s Republic of Madistan.’

Socialist Democrats consume or destroy everything they touch and contribute nothing. Much like Mother Government as a whole.
