On his 98th birthday, Jimmy Carter has once again set a new record as the longest-living United States president.

He's held the title since March of 2019, months after the previous title holder — President George H.W. Bush — died at the age of 94. President Carter may have only led the nation for four years, but in the four decades that have followed his White House tenure, he's managed to leverage his place in history to help others both domestically and abroad. The Carter Center, founded by Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter in 1982, has been aiding in a wide range of humanitarian efforts for 40 years now.

There is a reason why Christians saw Carter as a public Christian and Reagan as a practicing Christian, that drove the media crazy who would point out how visually Christian Carter is.

There are cracks in Carter’s image, he was pro-abortion, he left the Southern Baptists because they were too Christian and he joined a less Christain church, and he made big publicity dumping on Evangelicals and their support of Christian positions in politics and government.

Carter several times attacked Reagan in the 80s in vile little digs, revealing a nasty, back-biting personality that he fights to conceal.

Carter always seems calculating and against the very things that he sells on the surface to the public, with his saintly Southern image, even his military service.

Carter was a high school graduate when Pearl was bombed, unlike Ford, JFK, Reagan, Nixon, Carter signed up for Georgia Southwest State, then Georgia Tech, and eventually the Naval Academy in 1943 with a graduation date of 1947, that careful avoidance of the war may mean nothing, but it could also fit into the way that Carter operates on two levels.

Carter’s big mistakes were not really mistakes, they were Carter’s politics.

“ Carter’s big mistakes were not really mistakes, they were Carter’s politics.”

Equally true of Joe and Obama…the Bushes as well.

Jimmy Carter never served on a nuclear submarine. Was not a nuclear engineer

Has the justice dept raided his home? He sailed in the nuclear submarine fleet, so he has nuclear secrets.

He lived long enough to be bumped from the arguably worst president ever to number 2, and now 3.

I seem to recall years back about how he was suffering from Pancreatic cancer. It was my understanding that it was nearly always fatal but yet, somehow, he recovered. I think there was also one other politician who had it but seemingly recovered. I’ve always wondered about that.

Great minds think alike. I would've chose the same bottom five, though not necessarily in that order.

FDR and Woodrow Wilson would've ranked 6th and 7th from the bottom, though not necessarily in that order.

And, Democrats, he's still eligible for another term! Seriously, ... I would take Jimmy Carter over literally anyone that the Democrats will field in 2024.

Don't give them ideas!

You might be thinking of Ruth Bader Ginsburg… she too was one who had pancreatic cancer and managed to survive.

I wish him well in his old age home.

I also wish he would go away. He’s caused enough damage to the Country.

As a runner, I read with keen interest the news article of about 1978 regarding Carter running miles around the deck of an aircraft carrier when he was travelling as president. He had achieved the ability to run 7 miles in 49 minutes. We now see the results.

nice man, horrible president.

He gave me a 13.5% mortgage in 1980. Lousy president but better than BiteMe.

I would take Carter anytime over a mentally challenged president who has problems making a coherent sentence and opening our borders to gangs and drug dealers.
