...which, for the record, I will always bestow upon LBJ).

He's definitely in the Bottom 5. Obama, Biden, Carter, LBJ, Buchanan.... Take your pick.

Whenever a Carter thread pops up I'm reminded of this:

Carterpalooza!

Borderline treasonous activity by Carter....

I was always inclined to give Buchanan a pass as the worst president. Sure, he blundered the country into a civil war. But he was flying blind, so to speak. There was no prior history to guide him.

Contrast that with George W. Bush, who had LBJ’s mistakes in Vietnam to learn from. Yet W repeated most of LBJ’s errors. So, yeah. I’d replace Buchanan with W.

Thanks to Obama & Biden, no one any longer considers Jimmy Carter to be the worst US President.

How many people died because Jimmy Carter said their dictator was elected in a "fair and honest" election even though he knew it was a lie?

Monster.

LBJ no.

Woodrow Wilson.

A good sixty percent of our problems come directly from his policies.

Another thirty come indirectly.

The rest is just life.

Good for Jimmy happy birthday. Is Biden going to share his pudding with Jimmy? Asking for a friend.

At 98, I suspect Jimmy is far sharper mentally than Biden at 79. Jimmy designed Nuclear propulsion systems. Biden would be hard pressed to operate a coffee maker.

jimmy carter was not a good president but unlike the rest of those who held the office he was a good man trying to do good.... Biden, Obama, Clinton, I believe sold out the country while they held office. I don’t think carter did any of that his big sin is that he did not understand the corruption around him while president.

The Carter Center, founded by Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter in 1982, has been aiding in a wide range of humanitarian efforts for 40 years now.

```````````````````````````````````````````
Even more so than the Clinton Foundation?
That’s hard to believe!
I would take Jimmy Carter over literally anyone that the Democrats will field in 2024.
No doubt.
Happy Birthday, Jimmy.
nice man, horrible president
Ditto. His work w/Habitat for Humanity is far better than anything he ever did as President.
Although, by comparison, FJB makes Carter look mediocre.
Jimmy designed Nuclear propulsion systems.
I don't think he did. More here.
You can blame Eisenhower for that. The disgraceful coup that got Iranian nationalist Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh thrown out of office happened well before Carter.
It's a modest foundation. The Carters were never as successful at the graft game as the Clintons were.
Carter a nuclear engineer is the same as Slick Willie/Bill Clinton being a Rhodes Scholar. Actually Carter is worse! Slick never finished Carter never started!
Amazingly long life. Wonder why? Maybe in part because he’s been able to partake in decent medical care, at our expense, for his entire run?
(And, some genetics. Miss Lillian lived into her hundreds, didn’t she?)
No Socialized Medical Care for Socialists, though. ;)
