Denton landlord arrested after confronting tenant with a gun

DENTON, Texas - Denton police arrested a 68-year-old man for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after a video shows him confronting a tenant with a gun.

When FOX 4 spoke to the landlord, he did not deny his role in the confrontation.

Cell phone video shows the intense Sept. 9 encounter between 27-year-old UNT grad student Mohammed Alzahrani and his 68-year-old landlord, Phillip Young

Young told FOX 4 he had a verbal agreement with Alzahrani that he wouldn’t use the kitchen in exchange for cheaper rent.

"So all of a sudden after two weeks, he decides he’s going to cook eggs," Young said.

The white male home owner sent an email to the investigating detective and wrote "maybe I just should shoot him."

Apparently, the white male home owner has not been paying attention to the current political climate, where any threat by a white American against a Muslim or person of color is instantly prosecuted.

A verbal agreement not to use a large, nice looking kitchen won’t be enough for most tenants to resist the urge to make use of the facilities. Get it in writing.

If you deny use of your kitchen, at any time and on any day of the week, then stand by prepared to act, as the tenet experiments with various methods of cooking food in their bedrooms.
