Electric cars are the bestest in the world. They are the bestest in everything.

The bestest electric cars are going to save the world.

Electric cars can have as much horsepower and torque as any ICE car in the world(no one can afford them, though) and they are the best.

EV worshippers unite.

On a more serious note, I would imagine that with the recent surge in liberal, inner city hipsters & liberal suburbanites buying more and more of them...most likely because of the cheaper models and the tax incentives that go with them...that the mass production is causing QC/QA issues, as with anything mass produced. Only these things are a tad more dangerous when they malfunction than other consumer goods.

“The piece argues that the science of lithium-ion batteries make them inherently dangerous.”
All the article did was repeatedly say lithium batteries are dangerous. It did not give any explanation.

as President Trump said, “climate change” is a hoax to benefit China. Australia’s EV numbers are still tiny, but plans are afoot to force people to buy them, even tho Australia has just about the lowest population density, and would require uneconomical amounts of charging infrastructure:

27 Sept: Daily Mail: China’s very clever plot to make Australia dependent on it for electric cars like it is for virtually everything else - and it’s already happening as Labor pushes its green agenda
Chinese-made cars in August had an 82.6 per cent electric vehicle market share
They comprised 3,498 of the 4,235 EVs sold last month as Greens backed Labor
Teslas manufactured in Shanghai were by far the most popular fully-electric cars
BMW selling for $114,900, Volvos and car from offshoot Polestar also from China
By STEPHEN JOHNSON
ANZ economists Madeline Dunk, Kyle Uerata and David Plank have released a report showing EVs are a key growth sector as the Australian government vows to have charging stations at average intervals of 150km...

28 Sept: Yahoo: China’s Nio joins the race for lithium, buys 12% of Australia’s Greenwing Resources
by Rita Liao
Nio, an eight-year-old premium EV maker, has agreed to pay $12 million for a 12.16% stake in Greenwing Resources, an Australian lithium mining company, Greenwing said in a filing with the Australian Stock Exchange.

As part of the deal, Nio obtains the right to one nominee on Greenwing’s board and a call option to acquire between 20% and 40% of the issued capital of Andes Litio SA. Bought by Greenwing last year, Andes Litio holds options rights over the San Jorge Lithium Project located in the prolific Lithium Triangle, which spans Argentina, Chile, and Bolivia and contains most of the world’s lithium resources...

BYD, the Warren Buffett–backed Chinese manufacturer that is closing in on Tesla by producing a mix of hybrid and electric vehicles, has also been getting its hand on the global lithium supply. In January, the firm said that it won a contract from Chile’s mining ministry to produce 80,000 metric tons of lithium over 20 years with an offer of $61 million, but the auction was subsequently suspended by a local court under political pressure.

I wonder if lithium batteries are more inherently dangerous than gasoline.

“Bosch, recently warned the electric vehicle industry over its overreliance on a single fuel source — battery cells — as Europe’s energy crisis worsens.”

Bosch is only against EVs because they make wiper blades.

It is ‘possible’ that by 2035 lithium will have been supplanted by a safer, higher-capacity and faster charging medium.

But 2 points:

1. If there are to be regulations on transport of ‘hazardous’ lithium batteries on commercial aircraft, there should be lawful statutes on the storage of vehicles containing the same, as well as their use which may endanger the public (think ‘electric buses’ etc.). Furthermore, insurance policies should have specific exclusions barring payout for anything related whatsoever to a charging fire from a lithium battery-powered EV AND/OR lithium power cells (home/solar/etc.).

2. Until such hypocrisy is bridged and sufficient motivation is placed behind finding a replacement for the ‘transitional’ lithium power sources - coupled with the inevitable replacement of lithium - any regulations pursuant to the emotional fraud referred to as ‘climate change’ will continue to manipulate markets in a way which will both punish the end users and destroy free market capitalism.

Think hard about the latter...

Just drive the freeways of the hot southern states and be aware of the big burn marks on the lane shoulders, they are almost all from ICE engines🤔🤔

If you are trapped in an EV and the battery goes critical we (FD) will try to get you out of the vehicle but ultimately, you are going to burn to death in there because in reality, there is nothing we can do to save you. All we are going to do is make it look like we tried and failed.

Choose wisely.

Batteries, gastanks and bombs. They all store huge potential energy in small volumes. Somehow we got a decent handle on handling bombs and gasoline. Batteries seem to be a bit trickier.

Energy resents being stored, period, end of story.

What makes fossil fuels so miraculous is that nature already spent hundreds of thousands of years and untold amounts of energy converting energy broadcast by the sun into an energy-dense and stable form. Except mankind isn’t held liable for all that overhead, the only cost we have to pay to get at those fuels is in extracting them from the earth and doing whatever processing is necessary to tailor their properties to our needs.

California to ban the purchase of ICE cars by 2035. California will need to double its production of electricity, but power companies can’t even afford to cut trees along the cable lines or do preventative maintenance and brush clearing to prevent rolling blackouts.

What could go wrong? How are the illegals California sponsors going to get to their worksites? Are they going to buy $70,000 vehicles?

But I wholeheartedly agree, qaz123, electric cars are the bestest in the world!
