Orange County authorities said Victor Anthony Luis, a father of five daughters, was intentionally run over after Hannah Star Esser accused him of trying to hit a cat with his car
A 20-year-old Southern California woman was charged with murder this week after she ran over a man she accused of attempting to drive over a cat, Orange County authorities said Wednesday.
Hannah Star Esser got out of her car in the Cypress neighborhood of Orange County Sunday evening to accuse Luis Anthony Victor of aiming for a cat with his car in the cul-de-sac on Graham Street. Cypress is west of Anaheim.
Following the heated argument, during which Victor also got out of his car, Esser allegedly got back in hers, made a three-point turn and accelerated into him, launching him onto the hood of her car.
He flipped several times before landing in the street, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s office.
Esser faces one felony count of murder. She is being held on $1 million bail.
According to his family, Luis was a father to five daughters and was expecting his first grandchild this fall.
In a statement to FOX 11, Luis' family said "We are devastated by the loss of Victor, a beloved father of five daughters, a treasured son, brother, friend and cousin. This senseless act of violence has robbed the world of a bright light who will never be forgotten."
"This action showed a complete disregard for human life," Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer said in a statement. "The Orange County District Attorney’s Office will ensure that this random act of violence targeting a stranger will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
Esser faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted.

So far the only witness I’ve read about is the crazy cat lady.
Maybe he was just turning around in the cul-de-sac?
It’s what they might call a Black Swan event.
Given that the article says she is charged with murder and no other victims are mentioned, it is a safe bet that the guy she ran over died from his injuries.
Cat seems to have been OK and out of the way even before she hit the guy with her car.
Crazy cat lady…
My point was the author does not know the basics of “journalism.” “Just the facts ma’am. just the facts.”
They’d really hate my wife’s uncle who used to sit on his back porch and shoot feral cats with his .22. Lol. He had like 100 of them buried and one of the best gardens you ever saw. Feral cats kill everything. Real pests if they aren’t controlled.
They have a big problem with them inAustralia. They kill off lots of the native birds.
They are an invasive species and are wiping out song birds.
I have had pet cats that I loved but they were house cats that rarely got outside and when they did it wasn’t long.
And they kill far more than just for food.
We have a house cat who kills several mice in the house per year. He is part of the family and we love him. But you have to stay grounded in reality. Excess cats are a problem.
Also Jess Belle from the Twilight Zone episode, although she actually became a big cat.
The man was a stranger but this was not a random act of violence.
This woman made herself the Judge, Jury and Executioner for this man suspected of the crime of attempted killing of a probably ferrel cat.
She decided that his God given life was forfeit because he may have tried to kill a cat.
I wonder if she had a few drinks before she committed this senseless crime.
.
Hey Hig - Who you calling 'old'?
You better watch your step - I still pack a pretty mean wallop with my cane!

LOL
This woman is 20yo. For all of her life, abortion has been legal. And yet, speaking of crimes committed by her and others like her, prosecutors say that they show “a complete disregard for human life.” If we don’t protect little, naked, vulnerable ones in their watery homes, why should we give a barnyard animal’s backside about any other life?
Oh yes that cat really changed!
