Do you remember the three kids playing in the surf at the pier yesterday during Ian? I made this three-part video of that exact location. Total destruction.

I’ve seen this movie before. There is just no way to appreciate the sheer POWER of Mother Nature, until you’ve seen it.

You know, I’m starting to think that all the Storm Chaser, and Weather Channel coverage is convincing people that it’s “Not THAT bad”. They all cut out before the REALLY bad stuff hits.

Sanibel Island and Fort Myers never stood a chance of survival. ANYONE who lived on 5’ or less elevation and stayed there is LUCKY, IF they are alive.

When Michael hit in 2018 prices went.

“That’s the looming big issue. And people who are insured through the state’s insurer of last resort, Citizens Insurance, don’t realize that they can receive a special assessment equivalent to 40% of their annual premium to fill the claims hole. So even those homeowners not in the affected areas are likely to get a nice surprise in the mail from the state of Florida...”Your annual premium is $5000, so you owe us another $2000.”

DeSantis says reserves are sufficient. Don’t scare people.

“. In your Okeechobee situation, I would buy and move a high class single or double wide mobile home onto your spacious acreage.”

Do you also play Russian Roulette?

Yeah, the good Lord has a special dislike for double-wides in these types of storms.

I would like to have a home build of 4” welded armor plate, but that would be a bit too expensive for my pocketbook.

Cinder block reinforced to current building standards.

Low maintenance and hurricane proof.

Probably at home. Were you ever a teenager? This is what they do.

Fortunately, most of them survive it…

I agree…I think it would be fairly cheap to replace the structures in a lot of Florida mobile home parks (which are mostly elderly couples or single people) with equivalent nice block structures. They could buy or rent.
