Amanda Rose Barnes insisted she acted in self-defense after the pooch growled at her
A Montana woman who shot and skinned a Siberian husky she mistook for a wolf on a hunting trip, and then posted the gruesome pictures on social media, has sparked public outrage – and a police investigation.
Amber Rose Barnes, 36, of Martin City, faced swift backlash after she bragged about the kill on Facebook.
"So this morning I set out for a solo predator hunt for a fall black bear however I got the opportunity to take another predator wolf pup 2022 was a great feeling to text my man and say I just smoked a wolf pup #firstworld #onelesspredatorMT," she wrote above five photos of her posing with the bloodied pooch.

The also have a particular angle in the front limbs.
Their paws toe out, unlike an obvious Huskie’s paws.
Their legs are also comparatively longer for their body size.
This is like mistaking an Ibizan Hound for a deer.
Cite the fact that they “had parvo”, please.
(I tried to find a good picture of the CSI episode where someone did shoot a person in a wolf suit.)
My sorrow for your terrible loss yet I am glad you were blessed with him for *so* long, even if it’s never long enough.
I love Huskies and their constant “talking” is a joyous thing.
When I was a 3 year old kid, my best friend was a Husky named Wolfie, but I couldn’t say his name right so it was Woofie.
While we were on vacation somewhere, my dad gave him away.
He said “maybe he ran away”.
Yeah, and took his house, his bowls and his toys.
Right.
About a year later, I saw him tied to a light pole in downtown Hagerstown, waiting for his “new owner” to come out of a pizza joint.
Woofie saw me and went totally “call of the wild”, with joy.
I ran up to him and we just melted together, each of us elated to be together again.
My mom yanked me away and said “That’s not Woofie” and dragged me up the street, crying and calling his name.
I can still hear his mournful howls as I was taken away from him, yet again.
Man, that misery has stuck with me my whole life.
I’m crying now, remembering it, 58 years later.

You know what this sociopath needs.
The shelter is trying to treat them.
Parvo in adult dogs is not a death sentence and even pups can be saved.
I have not seen any wolves in the wild but it looks like one to me from all those nature shows on PBS I have watched.

Because wolves in the wild generally don’t want to be seen and will shy away if they sense humans approaching.
Yes, they are kind of "stilt-ey" compared to a dog's legs.
Still, a dog in the wild...
Some are saying "puppy mill Parvo" for the group of dogs this one may have been attached to.

How's your best boy doing?
Happy as a clam, while I go insane.
Amp is scheduled for Monday and then OrthoPets sent me an email today wanting to work with his vet for a prosthetic leg, as he’s a good candidate.
Time is running out and then I get handed this soul crushing bit of hope.
I forwarded the surgeon their email, asking if he could possibly consider this.
There’s another place down near Bawlmer that does it all day long but that means a $300 “consultation” wasted.
I’ve been digging around the house looking for other stuff to sell, just in case this miracle could happen.
I feel like I’m being ripped apart in a thousand directions.
Meanwhile, dog is snoring upside down beside me, totally oblivious, with his naughty bits proudly displayed.
He is so weird.
Did you know that you can select one pup from a litter, vax it for parvo and throw it back in and *all* the pups will be immune to it?
/post-vaccine viral shedding, it’s a thing.
The parvo vax has been connected to the overwhelming increase in dilated cardiomyopathy in *all* breeds, now, so some breeders are “sacrificing” one pup to give the rest a better chance of never getting it.
Not to mention their skulls are entirely different, even at a casual glance.

If I ever mistook a Husky for a wolf, I’d just give it up as I’ve become too stupid to live.
This dog killing psycho bitch has NO excuse....except the one she made up after the internet howled for her blood.
Fascinating.
I'd never heard of the dangers of parvo till this thread [cats own me, not dogs].
Good to know that there's a solution. I would blame the puppy mill scum that apparently "got rid" of his/her problem faster than I would blame this woman.
I live in a wild area, for what it's worth.
I would be alarmed at the appearance of an unleashed, uncollared dog in my usual stomping grounds.
LOL! Well, we'll pray that things go well for your best boy.
so wrong, but lol
May God, Raphael and Saint Roch have Hrafi the Oblivious in their hands. :)
OMG I wish I could afford that pendant and have it here by Monday!
I would fasten it to his collar, long with his St Francis medallion and cross.
/laughing at Hrafi The Oblivious.
