A California woman allegedly ran over a man on purpose in a bid to save a cat she thought he was trying to kill.
Hannah Star Esser, 20, faces murder charges after Luis Anthony Victor, 40, died as a result of his injuries following the Sept. 25 incident.
According to authorities, Esser got out of her vehicle, yelled a profanity at Victor and accused him of trying to run over the cat in Cypress, Calif.

Reminds me of the Redd Foxx story. He was driving in the rain on a dark night and accidentally hit a cat and killed it. When his passenger asked why Redd didn't swerve, Redd replied "I ain't wrecking my $10,000 Cadillac for no two dollar cat".
[Of course, those dollar figures don't account for inflation!]

There was a man in Michigan some years back. He swerved and ran over an opossum. It was a mama with 7 babies in her pouch. He was charged with 8 felony cruelty to animals. I don’t recall the city.
I will give you a Cat-o-9 so you do not have to swing a dead cat!
Likely to serve more time that the lunatic who is out on bond after running down the 19 yo conservative.
At this point, I care a lot more for a cat’s life than most human ones. Might not try to kill someone deliberately hurting a cat, but he would have to take his chances.
I like cats better than a lot of people.
Might be understandable under the circumstances.
Opossums are great to have around.
They are real tick vacuums and I would love to know we have some on our property. Have not seen any as of yet.
