HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. (Gray News) – Three men in Florida have been charged after attempting to steal traffic lights using a saw, officials said.
According to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, a detective was driving home around 1 a.m. Tuesday when he noticed a suspicious van stopped at an intersection with its headlights turned off.
The detective then noticed sparks coming from the area where traffic lights were in the process of being installed.
Additional deputies arrived at the scene, where they said they found three men using a saw to cut the traffic lights off the poles. By the time law enforcement arrived, the men had already successfully cut down three stop lights and placed them inside the van.

They’re valued at 5K each, but the market would seem to be extremely limited.
Apparently, such traffic lights can be worth about $5K each.
Find out who’s paying for them.
Meanwhile, this sounds like a script from a Cheech & Chong movie. The guilty parties are three young fellows all about age 27. They don’t necessarily LOOK like Meth addicts, but you never know.
If they had waited a day or two they wouldn't have needed to use a saw ..................

My first thought as well along with the opening pipe cutter scene.
It’s easy to run a light...but hard to run with several.

I remember them.........................
I knew somebody who apparently had a hobby of stealing road signs, street signs, even license plates. He then would nail them up in his garage.
So in his garage, you would see those blue and red interstate signs for I95, I40, I295, etc. License plates from all the different states. Street signs for Broadway, Main Street, Maple Street, etc. Stop signs, one way signs, deer crossing signs, you name it, he had it.
I figure him to be the type to go out in the middle of the night with a screwdriver and a ladder and "go shopping." Or maybe he just got them on eBay. Who knows.
A couple of years ago in Florida, some kids stole a stop sign from an intersection to use as a decoration in their dorm room. A car drove through the intersection without stopping and killed someone in another car that had stopped and then proceeded. The kids all went to prison for (I think third degree) murder.
