During Saturday’s weekend morning show, Mester, Romero’s co-anchor, went off script with an emotional speech. He apologized, on behalf of the station, to viewers and said the handling of Romero’s exit “was rude, it was cruel, it was inappropriate and we are so sorry.”
Many viewers had applauded Mester’s ad-libbed message, but not long after his defense of Romero, Mester was suspended, drawing even more criticism of how KTLA handled the situation.
“Mark was 100% in the right,” tweeted one user. “It’s like you guys are begging to lose all your viewers with this kind of behavior.”
However, newsroom employees described a different scenario, saying Mester, who joined KTLA in 2014, had violated their trust.
Staffers said producers had written a script for Mester to read to send off Romero, accompanied by photos and clips of her broadcasts, which Mester ignored during the segment. He had also hired a plane with a banner to fly over the station with the message “We love you Lynette.” Mester had pitched producers to include footage of the plane in the segment but was rejected.
Staffers said they saw Mester pacing back and forth with an angry look prior to stepping on set for the Saturday segment. He had alerted his social media followers that he was planning to address Romero’s departure on that morning’s show.
After his segment, people in the newsroom said, they saw Mester ignore management’s requests to step into their office for a meeting. At one point, several staffers recalled Mester telling one of the news directors to “shut up” and said he refused to leave the building after being asked to do so.
During the exchange with management, Mester allegedly yelled obscenities that could be heard by other staffers in the newsroom.

Some people never grow up.
Drama queen no wonder he works for the media
What’s the story on Lynette Romero?
Several things that I read:
1. She wanted a different gig than a weekend slot.
2. She got offered a different opportunity elsewhere
3. She quit abruptly and the station didn’t acknowledge her departure immediately
Appears to me he had a thing for her, she went to work for the competition , her decision, she probaily told him some bs.
KTLA is close to one of our studios. Beside Nutflix. I know the major players there. Meister should have kept his mouth shut as the company message does read as sour grapes in the wish you well’ category. I know workers there the past 10 years who tell me it’s a toxic place to work in.
This is why radio hosts find out they’re fired when they show up for their shift and their headphones are in a box in the hall.
KTLA is known as the “Progressive Network” and I remember when they covered up the death of their former anchor Chris Burrous who went to a sleazy motel after leaving work early, had gay sex with some dude from tinder, and had meth shoved up his butt..KTLA had a tribute for him for one freakin WEEK for a pervert!
All I know about her is that she is a HUGE Bernie bot, BIG TIME
he looks like a fruit cake ...
Aren’t they all these days?
Now that the dust has settled, the irony is that she is now working at her new job, while her Knight In Shining Armor is at home playing Fortnight, Minecraft and Call of Duty, until his unemployment checks get started. Oh, that’s right!
Since he ‘got fired’ he won’t be eligable for Unemp. Checks.
Sounds like somebody was in love, or lust.
I saw his speech when it happened - I also thought I heard Mark say that Sam Rubin, the entertainment reporter had said inappropriate things on air? Metzer then refused to repeat what Sam had said. Not sure if that inappropriateness was the cause for Lynette’s hastening her departure. If true, I would say KTLA took Sam’s side and thats what set Lynette free and set Mark off
I remember Lynette from when she was on a station in Denver.
