“Ja Mo Be There”
They were a great band, as I can recall.
Both fun and professional.
To pass away age 72 is ‘young’ nowadays.
Maybe he had already been dealing with a health concern over a long period of time. Not everyone shares every aspect of their lives while strolling the internet.
Darn. Good performer.
True, Mike was over exposed for a while in the 1980’s and 90’s. Everytime you turned around, there he was in another duet. But sometimes it seemed to work okay, in my opinion.
Rememeber his work with Patti LaBelle: “On My Own”
His work with (the forgotten) Christopher Cross.
Mike did the backing vocals on “Ride Like The Wind”.
Nope.
Earlier this week, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame posted an “In Memoriam” tribute to original Doobie Brothers drummer John Hartman — though oddly, according to a Hall of Fame rep, his family confirmed that he actually died on December 29, 2021. Now, his bandmates have acknowledged Hartman’s passing on their official Facebook page.
Rest In Peace, John. You were one of the great ones.
Tiran Porter was my favorite bass player at the time. An absolute monster on bass.
This.
McDonald also “sang” on a number of Steely Dan albums. Never cared much for his vocal stylings.
Michael McDonald did the vocals on the closing song of the South Park movie “In The Eyes of a Child”
Sure, life is kinda gay,
But it doesn’t seem that way,
Through the Eyes of a Child.
So, don’t give up
Even when the road seems long
Just find that child inside of you
You’ve got to find it in you.
Spread your wings and fly, to the brightest star
If ya want, I can get my friend Steve to detail your car
For around twenty bucks.
I saw them in concert with Bonnie Raitt at UMASS Amherst stadium one sunny summer day back in the early Eighties...
Both groups were a lot of fun to watch. For some reason, I remember Bonnie Raitt had someone playing a tuba in her group. Not a sousaphone...a tuba!
Love the Stampede album, “I Cheat The Hangman”, and “Neal’s Fandango” are too of my favorites.
“sang” in quotes. Lol!
I always got the impression that Bonnie Raitt was a nice person. Maybe it was just an illusion. I’ll never know.
