I live in a +5 D county in blue NYS. I think this issue would be a net positive here.
The title is misleading. He said if he’s the head of a committee. He will not be the head of a committee unless Republicans take the Senate.

Rand has been grilling Fauci endlessly which is fine but to your point, they need to focus on the economy to win elections. People vote with their wallets.

There is no current special counsel law. The only type of special counsel currently is in the internal rules of the DOJ to investigate the DOJ internally.

Yep, that’s it. Then, like all the other “investigations” it will be quietly swept under the rug. Folks should know by now that nothing will happen to 1st tier elected politicians or bureaucrats. All a dog and pony show circus. Always has been and always will be.

I understand the skepticism, but remember our recent history.... IF you are a useful tool of the left they will discard you in a hot minute when you have served your purpose.
When you are among the elite of the elites, they will stick with you no matter what.
I said this over a year ago, well prior to having the overwhelming information we now possess, that Fauci was a fool if he thought he was untouchable. Being swept up as a celebrity wise man by the media and democrats was only a temporary thing.
Fauci will not be viewed kindly by history. This thing was a mess from top to bottom and notice how he no longer “defends” his edicts.... he is putting blame on the CDC and FDA versus the NIH.
Anyone who knows anything about how bureaucrats function under stress knows what that means. If he can’t defend his actions he will shift blame.
That is definitely taking place.
PS - Rand Paul is a fine Senator. I wish we had 50 more of him.
I strongly agree with this sentiment. It shouldn't be used as an election ploy, although I'm not suggesting that that's the only reason for the statement.
But, yes -- Repubs often do things like this and then forget or roll over and play dead after they're actually "in power". (quotes intentional, because they seem to lack the will or knowledge on how to exercise that power...)
I just wish that they would quit telegraphing moves that allow prospective targets to coordinate alibis, destroy evidence and documents, and develop a coordinated defense strategy long before the big Republican gun goes 'Pop'...
The Dems, despicable as they are, know how to play the game. How many of these recent FBI raids on private citizens were announced beforehand, for example.
That's why my eyes roll when Grassley or somebody long in advance announces that he's warned some swamp-dweller to 'Preserve all documents, emails, etc.'
It may sound like a good strategy so that this destruction would be in violation of 'serious' Federal guidelines, but who are we kidding? They'll do what they do anyway, and get away with it. There's no stomach for upholding the law in that cesspool. The only people ever held accountable are conservatives.
