PLATTEVILLE, Colo. (KMGH) – A freight train collided into a police cruiser parked on train tracks with a woman trapped inside.
Locked inside the cruiser was 20-year-old Yareni Rios-Gonzalez. Police detained her for an alleged road rage incident earlier in the night

She didn’t park on the tracks. She stopped just past it. LEO parked on the tracks to do the search and arrest.
= = =
“I can park anywhere I want with my lights on. Everyone has to slow or stop for me. I rule the road. My activity trumps all.”
Yep.
What allowed these cops to think that they could park on the tracks apparently with absolute impunity?
Thank you. I looked for a way to post the video at the news site, but didn’t see a way. I much prefer YouTube videos...very easy to post.
“Didn’t both drivers, Road Rage Girl and The Cop, choose to park ON the railroad track?”
No. She parked off the tracks. This is on the idiot cops. Impact ~5m 40s >

Stupid questions posed by the reporter in the video.
The arresting officer was focused upon the situation at hand.
It’s a known concept.
But the dept. is at fault at a minimum because the assisting officer should have had more SA: There was ample time to clear the tracks.
Bottom line: Had she not road raged she wouldn’t be in the hospital.
I was wondering about that. Cops vamoosed, but left the cruiser door open. I figured she must’ve been strapped in, unable exit the car.
Cops made zero effort to pull her out. Zero.
This is 100% on the cops, but it also concerns me that the engineer of the train could see flashing police lights across the track up ahead and didn’t even try to slow down.
I understand that it takes MILES for a train to stop, but what if there was an emergency where the tracks were out, etc., and the police were trying to signal the train?
You’d think that the engineer would at least make an attempt to slow down.
She was parked past the tracks, cops parked on the tracks behind her. I guess, in a normal police stop, that would’ve been the normal distance to park behind a perp. In this case, parking off the tracks would’ve been a better idea of “normal”.
We have our fair share of stupid cops in this country. You would have to be either an idiot or a control freak to even want to be a cop in today’s environment.
“Bottom line: Had she not road raged she wouldn’t be in the hospital.”
Exactly.
This Woman needs to bankrupt and destroy all that did this to Her over an alleged Road Rage charge. This is Attempted Murder.
UNFREAKING REAL!!!!
“ He will probably be on desk duty till the police chief decides what to do with him.”
Strapping his dumb ass to the tracks should be on the table.
L
How did she park on the tracks ? Only one vehicle was on the track- the patrol unit.
They are stupid. Aside from the person they left in the car who is now badly injured, they also have to explain why they parked in such a way as to cause the cruiser to be totaled. The city may also have to pay for repair of any damage to the train and other damage caused by the crash.
Once a suspect is in custody, their safety is the responsibility of the arresting officers. So her part in this won’t keep the officers and department from being accountable.
WTH, don’t they teach people not to park on train tracks anymore? Idiots.
Dumb-ass broad is lucky she's in the hospital and not on a slab. She is about to become very wealthy. I envy her attorney.
They didn’t think.
“I’m on the side of law enforcement, but that was IGNORANT!”
Which part? Leaving a person in the car parked on tracks or having someone film the whole situation and not getting it erased? My question is going to be how did this happen? Destroying a vehicle in this way is not going to be ignored since the cop would have no explanation at all? How did the cop figure how to get out of it? Not well planned.

Once she was arrested the police were entirely responsible for her.
When I was a teenager, learning to drive ...
My Mother taught me "never park on train tracks."
My Father taught me "never park on train tracks."
My driving instructor taught me "never park on train tracks."
I considered all the things I knew about trains and cars, and decided "They're right. NEVER PARK ON TRAIN TRACKS."
This bagde-wearing jackass should be charged with attempted homicide.
