Actor Matthew McConaughey, who has publicly considered running for governor of Texas, told attendees at San Francisco's Dreamforce conference that it may be inevitable he runs for president sometime in the future.
Dreamforce is corporate tech giant Salesforce's annual convention featuring a slew of celebrity speakers and performers. McConaughey spoke to Salesforce co-CEO Marc Benioff, a close friend, about his activism.
When Benioff asked McConaughey about the 2024 presidential election, the actor did not make any definitive statements on that cycle specifically, but teased his presidential aspirations more broadly.
"Yeah I'll consider it in the future, I'd be arrogant not to, absolutely I would consider it," McConaughey said. "If I got into any form of politics I'd be remiss not to also go in as an artist and a storyteller; help put a narrative together. You're the CEO of a state and a nation, a lot of compartmentalization and choices to be made. They scare me but I'm not afraid of 'em."
He said of running for president, "If that happened to me I would be pulled into it. If I'm living right, which I'm trying to, we get pulled into things ... it's inevitable. I didn't choose it, it chose me."

Stick with acting, Matt. You’re no Reagan.
“He said of running for president, “If that happened to me I would be pulled into it. If I’m living right, which I’m trying to, we get pulled into things ... it’s inevitable. I didn’t choose it, it chose me.”
It is not inevitable to do anything, it is just the arrogance that he thinks is the turning point on whether he should get himself into something too big for him...a false arrogance. McConaughey lives in a world of deceit. His only successes were of “playing at being” someone who is generally larger than him. He is a user of other’s attainments and has displayed no history of service (without benefits) to people of this country if it was not attached to show business.
An example of his failure to understand political reaction is his outlook on gun control. He thinks ownership of an AK-47 should have the higher age requirement of 21. Two things wrong here, one that how can he or anyone else determine if an 18 year old or a 21 year old is more responsible? Why not make it 25 or 50? And as for ownership, according to the Heritage Foundation, “The principal public safety concerns with respect to guns are suicides and illegally owned handguns, not mass shootings.”
He might be considered a very good actor. But do we need another one in Washington misrepresenting the citizens? Especially another Monday morning quarterback that doesn’t know the playbook? Sounds remarkably like Kamala.

Pat Paulson, is that you?
He’d be better off running for Governor of California.
Such a deep thinker.
I wish he would. He would tear apart the liberal side of the spectrum. You’d have run of the mill democrats, bernie fans and this moron. It would be awesome to watch them eat each other.
I guess a network will have to give Arsenio Hall a new show so Matthew can play nude bongos on it.
Matt, sorry to inform you but you are a communist.
“”If that happened to me I would be pulled into it. If I’m living right, which I’m trying to, we get pulled into things ... it’s inevitable. I didn’t choose it, it chose me.””
Why not? He makes as much sense as the guy we have in there now.
This is what happens when you smoke pot.
You become delusional!
Now start banging those drums! (google his name about that!)
At least this guy was smart enough to know he’d lose to Beta in the Texas Dem gov primary.
“Yeah I’ll consider it in the future, I’d be arrogant not to, absolutely I would consider it,” McConaughey said.
This guy seems to have ascended to some hyper level of arrogance where he thinks it is arrogant to not do something he is completely unqualified for. I guess this is what happens to some people after years of being surrounded by adoring ass-kissers.
If he ran as a Democrat, he would be the most moderate Democrat running for president since JFK. I don’t think the lockstep left would give him their platform.
And the Republican party doesn’t need any more milquetoast “conservative” RINOs.
If he wants a career in politics he should start by running for mayor of Austin, and accomplish something worthy of bigger things. Otherwise, he’s just a figurehead, not the problem-solver he’d like us to believe.
