According to media reports, the California Independent System Operator told EV owners to “avoid charging electric cars” between 4 pm to 9 pm. The request to not charge vehicles during these times is part of the state’s effort to keep the power grid up and running.

Charging stations at grocery stores... at parking lots and garages...

There's no reason to mimic gas stations. It's a different product. Also portable charging packs... fits under the trunk and charges the car while you drive.

These aren't 'electric cars' they're battery operated cars.

The point is that new power plants would have to be built. Lots of them.

Most people don’t drive 300 miles every day! Much less 900 miles a day.

How many trucks operate in the U.S.?
Estimates of 15.5 million trucks operate in the U.S.. Of this figure 2.9 million are tractor trailers.

From this link:
https://www.truckinfo.net/research/trucking-statistics
Another quote from the same article:

How many miles does the transportation industry transports good in a year?
In 2006 the transportation industry logged 432.9 billion miles. Class 8 trucks accounted for 139.3 billion of those miles, up from 130.5 billion in 2005

Sixteen years later I would expect the milage to be 50% higher.

So maybe most people do not drive 300 miles per day, but there still are a hell of a lot who do.

I'm too old to consider buying one but I think the three-wheelers with two wheels in front are cool. Perhaps they are more stable on turns, too.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++

If you ever piloted a tail dragger you might think differently.

I don’t disagree with your common sense final conclusion, but I do know a lot of people that will burn that much gasoline. If they get 20 MPG, 20 x 17,544 = 359,880 miles.

Before I retired, that would be about 5 years.

And my job was not driving, The driving part was required to get me to where I needed to be.

There are literally hundreds of thousands who drive that much, and they are not truck drivers.

But I never would have been able to do it in a Tesla.

A tail dragger...is that the name for a 3-wheeler with two wheels in front?

Well since 220v service is what the power company puts into a residential home then what are the choices?

No.

Older design aircraft with a tail wheel rather than tricycle landing gear.

The CG had to e well behind the mains to keep them from nosing over. CG behind the mains means you had better be very careful.

Obviously you are not serious about buying a Tesla but I gave you the benefit of doubt.

What model Tesla do YOU drive?

You did not note the primary force. You are hung up on the present

The market will produce home charging capabilities and companies specializing in the installation. I suspect that the Tesla engineering guys have all the designs on their computers awaiting the right time to bring them forth.

There are other engineers who can do the same and the problem of charging will be eliminated for EV owners with homes. The problem will dissaoate as the market takes control of the charging problem

The Tesla already has scheduled charging—no need for a timer.

Sure, old aircraft, that I knew as a tail dragger. The topic was 3-wheerers so I thought that was perhaps your reference for the one wheel in the back model.

I'm not going to be flying any airplanes, either :)

I have been retired for 20 years and still drive about half as many miles.

My point is that what has made this country a great place to live and work is that we have been allowed to live as we chose, so long as we do not commit violent acts against others.

This EV thing, the wu-flu panic, the attempts to restrict or ignore the Bill of Rights, the push for digital money, green energy....all are a threat to freedom.
