How about the ability to recognize that the media and certain politicians on both side of the aisles are self-serving and unconcerned about your best interests unless it lines their own pockets?
My husband, who was a Marine during the Vietnam War, was always talking about the IQ levels of fellow soldiers, and he would express surprise at the low level of intelligence of some draftees.
We would then get into arguments on the validity of IQ testing, which I questioned did not take into consideration an individual’s environment. But considering the past decade as the utter complete dumbing down of our populace, maybe I should reconsider my dismissal of testing. What exactly does a person’s IQ mean?
Modern intelligence tests often focus on abilities such as mathematical skills, memory, spatial perception, and language abilities. The capacity to see relationships, solve problems, and remember information are important components of intelligence, so these are often the skills on which IQ tests focus.-(verywellmind.com)
Now what’s missing from this description? How about the ability to reason? How about the ability to figure out what is total nonsense and check out who’s spouting that nonsense? How about the ability to recognize that the media and certain politicians on both side of the aisles are self-serving and unconcerned about your best interests unless it lines their own pockets?
Having a degree from an ivy league university and several letters after your name doesn’t necessarily mean that you can reason well and not fall prey to indoctrination from the public academia system.
That’s why my husband and I scraped and saved to have all six of our kids attend parochial school and our kids are doing same with our grandchildren. Full disclosure--they are all super smart and conservative.

He is a dim, partisan, hack. Spews the Rat talking point one hundred percent of the time.
Not brilliant. But everyone thinks he is.
The entire “COVID” scam has proven that the vast majority of people are dumber than a box of rocks.
The reason for inequality is inequality.
At least half the population is unequal intellectually to the smarter half
Heard repeatedly on the workplace floor......”and I told that Engineer....”
and then there is common sense and street smarts
It’s very strange...those who claim to be smarter than average and say they know what’s best are the same utter IDIOTS who are leading our country down the ‘primrose path’ to destruction.
And yet...those who truly are intelligent and can think and reason aren’t listened to because they espouse a worldview that the ‘smart’ people reject.
The whole purpose of Education is to develop a good “BS Meter”.

I agree with you on all those points and would like to add that in my opinion that the ability to recognize obvious sarcasm is also indicative of a low IQ.
You'll notice that they actually had to do something about the price of gasoline - because even their partisans were becoming irked by the high prices, which were in their faces daily.
Ability, or inability?
😉
“I think the Media indoctrination can overwhelm IQ, because it’s like gas station price signboards - it’s everywhere.”
I’ve given it some thought too. It could be that when a high-IQ type wants the news, he’ll turn it on for 10 minutes while shaving (or whatever high IQ types do) and that’s all the news they’ll hear or read about that day. The rest of his day is either working, thinking about work, or trying to escape from reality. So they’re told to HATE Russia and HATE Russians, and that’s good enough for them.
But for us low IQ types (Trump supporters) we observe, read, and question the media - and more often than not, what they want us to believe (things like men can be women, and Ukraine had a huge Nazi problem, but it just ‘melted away’ after Feb 24th) just don’t make much sense to us - so we dig deeper and find out we’re getting played, BIG TIME.
I think a lot of it is laziness. You’re not dealing with rocket science with these issues, but people are lazy and would rather go along with something -– like, “If Obama said it, it’s good enough for me” –- for a number of reasons without thinking about it.
Ok you got me. Inability it is.
Even very intelligent people can be indoctrinated. Probably easier if they are led to believe early enough that what is being fed to them is enlightenment.
To them, enlightenment quite simply, cannot be BS.
Let’s clarify this...
IQ, or Intelligence Quotient, does not measure how smart you are.
It measures your ability to learn.
You still have to apply yourself.
I have a high IQ.
Missed MENSA by half a percentage point (97.5).
This explains how I became an engineer without a degree.
You can be smarter than someone with a higher IQ based upon motivation and application.
However, stupid is forever...
What kind of indoctrinaton are you speaking of? Is it the righteous truths that many of the ooks of the university libraries still contain? Or are you referring to the misleading supercilious falsities propagated by the professors of the humanities by instilling them into the credulous callow children that we are sending to them?
Indoctrination is not a bad thing at all if the doctrine is true and wise. What we have allowed to get out of control is the invasion of false doctrines into our educational systems, especially in the colleges where public school "teachers" are being falsely indoctrinated to misguide our children under the color of a qualifying degree in "education."
Your kids may be able to survive this environment if you, personally, equip yourself to train your children in right thinking apart from their school experiment. Even then, your efforts will be only partially successful if your thoughts are not centered on the Being Who has supplied us with the most valuable food for thought in a faithful precise translation of the original Holy Completed Scriptures.
To simply read the Bible is not enough. Without accepting the single solution to remedying human error, you will not be able to lead your own children, or convince other mature fellow citizens, of the effectiveness of your good intentions.
It is rejection of what is said above that has led our whole nation into a political pigsty of governmental mire, created by the kind of ill-prepared self-serving agnostic or atheistic that we in our own personal ignorance have allowed to seek elected office and to abuse the delegated authority vested in them.
Our nation was founded to follow Christian morality, for which our publicschools were originally meant to preserve. But we have failed, more and more, to preserve it through progressively rejecting the doctrines of the Bible, in which our now-blinded socialistic "teachers" cannot and will not indoctrinate our children.
And if they don't, who will instill and augment the values dearly held by our Founders? Wil you exemplify them and train your children likewise, despite the government's dismissing of them? We now live in the morass of governmental interference which overwhelmingly refuses to esteem the counsel of the Mighty God and His Incarnate Son as the overall guide, the unsurpassed Standard for personal conduct, of the Truths that we-all have ignored in order to propose our own failing policies for behavior, insisting on applying them to the death, rather than be converted to a life of commitment to the Savior of our souls.
That is what we need for our own selves and for our descendants, Biblical indoctrinatiob.
I am trying to remember if there was ever a person I knew, who was in MENSA, that had even average common sense. I don’t remember any.
(fixed that)
