Let’s clarify this...
IQ, or Intelligence Quotient, does not measure how smart you are.
It measures your ability to learn.
You still have to apply yourself.
I have a high IQ.
Missed MENSA by half a percentage point (97.5).
This explains how I became an engineer without a degree.
You can be smarter than someone with a higher IQ based upon motivation and application.
However, stupid is forever...
I am trying to remember if there was ever a person I knew, who was in MENSA, that had even average common sense. I don’t remember any.
A few years ago I got info in the mail that wanted me to become a member of Mensa.
All I had to do was to take this test and send it into them, with a small handling fee, and they’d rate me.
I checked it out and found the handling fee was a bit more than seems would be needed just to rate me.
Then there was the little thing of yearly dues.
I decided, all by myself and testless, that I was MUCH smarter than they thought I was and promptly tossed the info into the round file.
