I have lived practically under the cooling towers of Watts Barr nuclear plant on the Tennessee River for almost 40 years without incident but I still keep a “bug out bag” put together for us and the dogs in case of an evacuation. The only part I find creepy is being outside when the sirens are being tested.
Using the existing shore to ship power capability, the submarine can power 1500 nominal homes: more of a town than a small city.
