City officials are discussing putting a “dead or alive” bounty on the large lizards in an effort to spark some cold-blooded killing of the cold-blooded invasive species that’s wreaking havoc in the Sunshine State.

...“If we don’t do something and take action seriously, every single day these iguanas are multiplying,” she added.

Some residents liked the idea of going to war with the animals.

“We have a serious situation with these endangered species, and right now, we need to take action, and it is far bigger than the $200K we currently have allocated in our budget,”

I rather liked them too when I lived in Naples, FL. Far better than Coral snakes. I rather liked alligators too, as long as someone got them out of our pool and released them back to the swamp. Apparently they taste good, but I never tried.

Roast Iguana looks barf worthy.

Good idea...
Need to expand and include pythons, alligators, New York migrants, and MIVs...

Pay a bounty. Yeah. Can’t think of a better way to start up iguana breeding farms.

Unless you’re dealing with wolves or grizzly bears, you always get more of what you pay for.

They destroy your plantings - they’re especially fond of hybiscus - they dig holes and undermine your foundation and seawalls - they leave large quantities of salmonella laden feces all over your property on your pool deck, on your sidewalk, on your dock, in your driveway etc. Some people eat them. Ive never felt the need, you can shoot them, but air guns only in developed areas for a very good reason. As far as I know there are no approved poisons for them. Trapping is no good unless you use a havahart it risks getting the neighbors cat. And they’re wary. It takes a constant effort to keep their numbers down.

They’re not nearly as destructive as Democrats.

Those aren’t large iguanas. In GITMO, we had 6 or 7 footers.

Last time I was in Key West, the iguanas were locked in a death battle with the chickens to see which faction could take control. The iguanas appear to be winning...

Nice reference (post 15) but now I've got it ("Mexican Radio" from 'Wall of Vodoo') stuck in my head.

...not that it's a bad one to get stuck on.

Yes, the Cobra Effect from colonial India:

You see this in Texas where as hard as one rancher is trying to eliminate wild boar, their neighbors are trying to raise more to make money off of boar hunters.

Iguanas are herbivores. They raise hell with landscaping and agriculture. Plenty of other invasives in Florida eat the palmettos, though.
