A Canadian Tesla owner claims that after the battery on his $140,000 car died, the automaker told him a replacement would cost $26,000 and locked him out of the vehicle until he pays for a new one.

The Tesla has a 12V battery that runs some accesories and is needed for the car to work.
Dude. Its Elon Musk. He even Trolls the people that give him $100,000's of dollars.
A lot of times, a "dead" main batteries is a broken $3 plastic fitting that drained the coolant from the $26,000 battery.
The batteries can be totally fine, but the packs are't repairable due to Bomb/Liability issues, and there is NO Tesla repair network. So you have to buy new.
That’s why I’m happy to have my 79 C-10, a 68 Corvette and my current restoration project a 44 Willys MB. I like not having to worry about not being able to drive when I want and where I want.
The facts are that your EVs are nothing but junk. But you can feel free to worship at that altar all you want.
I didn’t post this article and reach out to you for any reason.
It almost seems as though you peruse this site looking for all the toy car articles so you can defend them.
How much does it cost to replace a battery for one of these things?
The can lock you out of your Tesla because Fakebook reported you questioned the 2020 Presidential election.
Watch it now, you’ll bring the wrath of the ultimate EV Warrior TexasGator with statements like that. He’ll tell you that all your information comes from Mother Jones even though it’s been reported by so many others.
He’ll tell you that you’re wrong that Musk has reverted to old battery tech, in his effort to be ESG and not be commented to child slave labor digging up cobalt.
Me, then one of my sons, then a grandson drove one of those for a total of about 275,000 miles...
They are doing their best to shovel so much sh*t down our throats about these cars. Has anyone investigated what politicians are making all the money pushing this crap?
Ha ha ha ha ha.
It’s funny because it’s true.
Elon has told everyone that the infrastructure is not in place to handle the number of EVs in production.
He has also said it’s not a good idea just yet to go whole hog against “fossile fuels” as all my rockets burn pure kerosene and lots of it!
I have cables. Where do you hook em up?
“I have cables. Where do you hook em up?”
Depends on the car. For Tesla there is a port on the front. The port also has threads for inserting the tow eye in case of the need to be towed.
According to the article : “The apparent buyer was then recorded taking the car apart from the front bumper and charging it.”
So which is it? Is there a “simple jump”, or must one remove the front bumper to access the 12volt accessory battery?
“He’ll tell you that you’re wrong that Musk has reverted to old battery tech, in his effort to be ESG and not be commented to child slave labor digging up cobalt.”
Your babbling. Can you rewrite in an intelligent manner?
Sure, Jan
He didn't have to take the car apart. He only has to pop off this cover.
I saw the guy on Tucker today.
“I saw the guy on Tucker today.”
Did he lie about Tesla locking him out?
“digging up cobalt.”
Present use of cobalt is 6% of world production.
Tesla now uses cobalt-free batteries.
Why don’t you get your information from credible sites. Your Mother Jones mag has a reputation for distorting facts.
That cover is an access to a 12V DC jump port? And is on every Tesla? Is it not locked from the inside? Can I avail myself of this 12V DC port?
(I know zero about EV’s, I know a lot about ICE’s)
