Let’s be clear. New, artsy-Italian restaurant Al Coro, one of the year’s most-hyped openings, has great food. Make that a lot of great food.
But everything else about the supposed phoenix rising from the ashes of the former, scandal-seared Del Posto space on 10th Avenue, from the look to the vibe to the prices?
SNIP
The pandemic gave owners and chefs lots of time to dream up new concepts to thrill the dining millions, once the worst was over. But Al Coro is too much concept and not enough common sense.

I missed out on Elaine’s, missed out on Le Cirque. Missed out on K-Paul’s too.
Guess I’ll miss out on this trendy joint too. Oh well.
No surprise. Any NYC restaurant that is “hyped’ will by definition be pretentious.
I am nostalgic for Luchow’s.
That’s a brutal review and then the commenters really pile on with the snark! Love it - taking down the pretentious by more than a few pegs!
I didnt know arches were fascistic
“But what is this — a supper club? Dinner theater in Pennsylvania?”....nope no snootiness there..
Google the name of that place and “food”. It’s laughable to call that a restaurant. Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill kicks their azz from the looks of it.
The comments are better than the article.
The bill for two easily tops $600, even when ordering the “abridged” $195, five-course prix-fixe option. (The other is seven courses for $245.)

$600 for dinner for two? Bidenflation.
Uh, nyc, pretentious.
Uh, nyc, pretentious.
I loved Mama Leone
How many illegal VISITORS can this restaurant handle?
This one was good too...

To call this an Italian restaurant is a huge insult to all Italians. Where’s the rest of the food?
True also for Free Republic.
Regards,
Katz’s Deli is still making sandwiches that take two hands to lift. Or take a stroll down Arthur Avenue (the neighborhood where Dion and the Belmonts came from) and you can’t go wrong. Bring an insulated bag because you’re going to want to shop at Borgatti’s pasta shop, Bella’s cheese shop or the delightfully named Pork Store.
I didn’t need Mama Leone.
My own Mama was a fantastic Italian cook.
