It rained all day in Chicago, making for a drenched field and soaked fans all around the stadium. Except, some fans got a little more wet than others.

A nice waterfall tourist attraction?
Like most everything in Chicago it takes over four times the labor because you always have:
One worker coming. One worker going. One worker supervises. One worker working, if not on break, lunch, cleanup time...
A few miles north in Arlington Heights, not quite so bad.

The joy of unions
I heard the Bears may build a new stadium.
It wasn’t too many years ago, that Soldier Field was remodeled and refurbished for the Bears.
Somene will shell out big bucks. Stadiums seem to cost into the billions of dollars nowadays.
—”I heard the Bears may build a new stadium.”
Appears to be all but a done deal, unless Chiraq comes up with much more mega moolah.
Last I heard, Chiraq was offering a dome over Soldier Field...
The dome alone had an estimated cost GREATER that the total for a new stadium in Arlington Heights about 30 miles north.
They found Jimmy Hoffa? Not much info in the one line excerpt.

It is a visual post.
But if you happen to be blind maybe the great and glorious google has an app for that?
Just look around a bit, I’m sure you can find it.
It’s frickin’ football, it’s supposed to be played in the elements outdoors.
Go watch films of NFL games in the 1960s, a lot of fields consisted more of dirt than grass.
Nothing excites a local politician like the computer simulated view of the proposed field from his “comp” tickets in a new suite.
—”The joy of unions”
As to the open scupper, probably not a union issue.
As soon as this appeared, guaranteed Chiraq’s midget mayor and her minions were screaming threats at the architectural firm that did the redesign, they then scream at the punch list crew and the general contractor...
DO YOU REALIZE WE ARE NEGOTIATING TO KEEP THE BEARS... IF YOU WANT TO EVER WORK IN THIS CITY AGAIN...
The union guys saw it and declared “IT’S NOT ON MY DRAWINGS”. But it will be fun in the rain! F’em.

And do not forget the famous ICE BOWL at Greenbay back in the day! Some say the best game ever!
Just ask around in Chicagoland, must have been a couple hundred thousand in the stadium that day!! Probably more.
Everyone has a friend or a relative that was at that game back in the 1960’s...
The way I heard it the players could not see the field or the ball. But Ray Nitschke could smell the Polish sausage grease someone secretly applied to the ball.
Indoor stadiums killed the NFL.

Not far south of the stadium at the University of Chicago, they have a professor that made his name on the economics of public stadiums.
For estimates of public gain, he says, move the decimal point to the left a position or two.
