Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott had trash thrown at him and was booed by some fans at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, as he left the field with an injury Sunday night.
Prescott left the game amid a flurry of boos during the game's 4th quarter due to a thumb injury, which will likely sideline him for at least six weeks, according to ESPN.
Some fans at the game who were upset with the quarterback expressed their frustration by pelting him with trash.
Earlier this year, fans at the stadium threw trash at referees and players at the end of the Cowboys' first-round loss in the playoffs last season. Prescott praised the fans in January for throwing debris at the refs, saying "credit to them" in a press conference following the playoff loss last season.
The thumb injury means Prescott will likely miss at least one game for the third season in a row. In 2020, Prescott suffered an injury to his right ankle in week 5 against the New York Giants that forced him to sit out the rest of the season, and in 2021, he suffered a calf strain that caused him to miss a week 7 game against the Minnesota Vikings.
"It's very disappointing, but injuries happen, can't necessarily control it, just unfortunate," Prescott said in a press conference after the game. "Obviously going to miss some time, not be there for my team, and that's what hurts more than anything, especially after the start we just put out there. Wanted to be able to respond, and not necessarily having that opportunity for several weeks, yeah, it's unfortunate."
The Cowboys lost the game to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 19-3, with Prescott finishing the game with 14 pass completions for 134 yards, one interception, and no touchdowns. With the loss, the Cowboys remain winless against Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady.
Not for me. I LOVED IT!
That really hurts coming from iggles fan!
Nick: I don’t want to hear any of this.
Mac: I’m getting to the weird part.
Nick: The weird part?
Mac: Yeah, it gets weird.
Haha, Yeah, but I guess Carolina wasn’t ranked high enough... ;-)
That’s just rude.
Big Game Jimbo and his merry band of gazillionaire boosters want a pro rata refund on that 2022 recruiting class they bought at aTm. Their fans sound like us Gator fans in the 1980’s...”Next year, next year”
Deserved the boos but not the trash.
He is paid elite money, $40 Million a year.
Performs sub-average.
I would have booed too.
Yeah, bring on kc…up the kneelers…
Give 'em hell, Pell! 😁
Fun town, Boone and the high country. But can’t go too long without salt.
They need to direct that angst at Jerry Jones, not Dak.
If they are at the game, Jerry already got their money.
As if Florida doesn't have it's share of football worship ... at least at the college level.
Surprised this happened at home in Dallas to one of their own players. Philadelphia has the most fanatic throw happy fans on the planet, be it baseball, football or hockey. You are safer behind enemy lines in the Ukraine than being on the visiting team in Philly
Sticks and stones
Bottles and trash
Dak’s ok with it
He’s got his cash
Not to mention ALABAMA.........................
I had the game on while woodworking and saw a receiver get open like 3 times for the Cowgirls all game. Either s has Dallas lousy receivers or Tampa’s D is very well coached.
Well, they forgot to bring their batteries and snowballs, so yeah ...
Not in Miami, judging at the size of the crowd at Hurricanes home games.
Yeah, the U have fallen from their 80s high.
