“In our rules, nobody can sell anything with ‘The Godfather’ or mobsters or anything that denigrates Italians,” John Fratta, a member of the committee that runs the iconic Little Italy festival, held from Sept. 15 to 25, told The Post. “We don’t need people thinking that the mob is running the feast.”
The 2016 decree was added to its vendor rules — and store owners in the area were told that if they want to still peddle the items, they must only be sold inside their shops.
“It’s gone. We don’t want that crap there,” he said of the mob-orabilia.

Sicilians actually
They’ve got a point. The longest running, most vicious crime cartel in history is the democrat party. And, they’ve murdered more people (abortion) than the mafia ever dreamed.
"It absolutely denigrates Italian Americans as it makes us seem like a bunch of womanizing, whoring thugs."
I don't care if you have a problem with it or not; that's what you wrote. Whether you have a problem with it or not is not what I commented on.
And as i later confirmed- it absolutely denigrates Italians Americans- big deal- doesn’t bother me- as i also stated.
Whether you're only sore about a double standard doesn't matter to me.
It does not, as I explained.
As you explained- lol. Is that suppose to matter to anyone?
Let them keep it a secret so I don’t have to log it.
Until Conservatives start playing the lefts game and cry “racism!!! bigotry!!” at every step possible, things will never change.
Taking the high road has in fact put us behind those sc*mbags.
Another double standard: Today, there's lots of outrage over actors playing something they're not in real life. But, there's no outrage over non-Italian actors (for example, Brando and Caan) playing Italian gangsters. DeNiro is maybe 1/4 Italian descent, but he made a living playing Italian mobsters.
In the old days, we all understood that actors act. They pretend to be other people for a living. I wouldn't change the cast of The Godfather movies. I can't imagine anyone else in those roles. Just pointing out the double standard.
I was devastated when i found out Sonny was actually Jewish.
Are Chez TShirts still for sale?
Correction Che Guevara
Caan was so convincing that, reportedly, he was voted “Italian of the Year” twice in New York.
Nobody can sell anything with ‘The Godfather’ or mobsters
Sweet no democrat propaganda posters.
Stupid. The Godfather is a big money maker to this day.
Much more believable than Bruce Jenner being voted Woman of the Year.
The mob is not a joke, but many Italians laugh at it. That’s what the shirts are about. It’s a kind of laughing at the indescribably horrific. There’s no explaining why it’s funny.
The audacity of it, maybe. The ludicrous idea these criminals have that criminals are the good guys, or something like that. Or maybe because movies are made about them, and not about the people who worked their way up from nothing to become important people in their society.
In any case, it’s a wonderful feast. I go every year. There’s really nothing like it. Just don’t go on the last Saturday evening of the feast or you won’t even be able to walk.
Sure, that will do it.
I’m not suggesting silencing those that mention the mafia in lieu of upstanding Italians. It’s just unfortunate for them that some of the most popular films in history are about Italian gangsters. I think the films are entertaining, but they’ve become the best known traits of Italians rather than the more family-oriented, Catholic, civic minded, hard-working reality of most Italian families.
In a one-word-answer quiz, I’d hazard that most would say “Mafia” when asked to “Say the first word that comes to mind when thinking of Italian Americans.” I’d think “Cops” would be the answer for the Irish in a similar quiz.
My own ancestry is half Scotch-Irish, hence my tagline. “Ornery” or “Kilt” would probably be the answer most given for that one. Maybe even “Willie the groundskeeper”.
LOL- right- because the “Compassionate, Conservative, Christian” way has served them so well the past two decades.
