Attended a Sting concert last night at the great Saratoga Performing Arts Center. He sure still has it, also nice to see.
The songs throughout the night were flawlessly executed by a deft band featuring the guitar tandem of longtime sideman Dominic Miller and his son, Rufus. Sting introduced the ensemble as a “family band,” slyly remarking that bespectacled drummer Zach Jones was Police drummer Stewart Copeland’s son.

Given that Sting's audience is probably infested with leftists, I can't help but assume they connected that line to Trump i.e. "The Apprentice."
Saw him in the UK in the 90s. Superb concert.
Some perhaps, but I looked around the crowd of successful appearing 60 somethings and in Saratoga County, a Red County, I suspect many were conservatives.
Yep, unique, talented, enjoyable.
Sting has a few cameo rolls as a tenant in Steve Martin’s “Only Murders in the Building”.
Ahh, you’re probably right. I just moved to North Port and you’re right. RED, with Rep. Steube, who seems to be one of the good ones.
Elise Stephanik represents the district just North of Saratoga. Saratoga is run locally as solid Republican except for the two cities, Saratoga Springs and Mechanicville.
SPAC is the most magical place to see any show. Well, it has been anyway. Would have surely bought a ticket to Sting, but I moved from Waterford a year ago.
Poets, priests, and politicians
Have words to thank for their positions
Words that scream for your submission
And no one’s jamming their transmission
Seems like a pleasant enough chap. Stuart Copeland really grated on him apparently according to a video on The Police I watched recently. The Police were not so famous until they came to America, they started out at local clubs, some quite small. I recall seeing one of their first acts at an iconic bar in Rensselaer NY called The Hullabaloo.
Copeland is probably the most influential drummer of all. You could even hear his influence on Neal Peart.
He dislikes pols as much as Copeland gets on his nerves.
And another…
There is no political solution
To our troubled evolution
Have no faith in constitution
There is no bloody revolution
The new drummer doesn't have his reggae style that you heard on many of the Police songs.
Interesting
This made me think of the Cream’s “Politician”:
Hey now, baby
Get into my big black car
Hey now, baby
Get into my big black car
I want to just show you
What my politics are
I’m a political man
And I practice what I preach
I’m a political man
And I practice what I preach
So don’t deny me, baby
Not while you’re in my reach
I support the left
Though I’m leaning, leaning to the right
I support the left
Though I’m leaning to the right
But I’m just not there
When it’s coming to a fight
Hey now, baby
Get into my big black car
Hey now, baby
Get into my big black car
I want to just show you
What my politics are
They are all lefties, fame and fortune and drugs will do that to you :)
Sting is one of those rare individuals/performers/artists who was gifted with so much talent, it’s kind of unfair.
