Should college professors have $10,000 deducted from their salaries to pay for 'student debt forgiveness'? Do you think they would vigorously contest this even though they supposedly hate profit and free markets?

Not individual professors directly, since a student has so many professors in a four year degree program, but the school should have $10,000 deducted from any federal subsidies.

$100k wouldn’t be too much by an order of magnitude.

10% additional federal tax on the incomes of the workers of any institution that collects federal education money.

no, the money should be taken from the college endowment, not the professors.

I would go a little farther. Let's pull $10K from every college administrator as well. Double-nail those professors who are also administrators, like deans and heads of departments.

"But we aren't part of the problem!" Demonstrate that by showing how many of your students have had their student loans forgiven. If the number is zero, I'd let you off the hook. Remember, the problem is that the education is supposed to launch the student into a well-paying job. No job, no debt payoff, and Biden-to-the-rescue.

Put a fat surcharge on the universities as well.

They should deduct $10,000 for each student that they drummed out of their classes (for being conservative).

No . . . if they truly believe in the leftist commie crap, just forgive every loan due THEM.

If every school that educated, or attempted to educate a student, now desperately in arrears, truly believed, they would just stroke of the pen, law of the land, pretty cool, eh? . . . erase the debt eliminating the taxpaying middle man.

No and no. Stealing from others to pay for another’s mistake is always wrong. Besides, the solution is unhelpful. Congress isn’t going to do it, and even if they did, it wouldn’t pay off everything owed.

The public policy should be: you bought it, you pay for it.

Colleges should have to co-sign for student loans. Then maybe they wouldn’t be so quick to sign up naive students for film studies, art history, etc.

I think that college endowments are currently tax exempt. So an easy first step would be doing away with that exemption. Actually would like to see most universities thrown into the dustbin of history, but gotta go after what is possible first.

Stop supporting state colleges as much as possible. Anyway you can. Dismiss the professors in every conversation when the profs are incorrect. Find out how they waste your money. State schools are a racket. Don’t hire college grads cause they are college grads. If you want to know why blue states keep voting for idiot leaders.., look at how much government money supports the people who work at schools. Those workers only vote for someone who guarantees their incomes.

Better: have the school be required to cosign student loans. If the student is unable to pay, it comes out of the college endowment.

Suddenly colleges would be less interested in offering worthless courses, or admitting unqualified students.
