Saw this earlier today. When I was a “yoot”, I loved the hell outta rides like this, and wouldn’t hesitate to mount up. Now, as I’m a wee bit “longer in the tooth”, I don’t even care to climb a ladder. Prayers out to all involved. That’s a hell of an accident. :(
It’s India, those people should have known or not be surprised by what happened. I’ve only visited there twice for work and would know better than to get on something like that. Too many of their elevators, or lifts, do the same thing. Although that could be a welcome distraction from the stench of curry sweat that permeates them.
If Raj in IT Support moonlights at the carny, I understand why the ride failed.
I saw the video on twitter. Surprised there were no deaths….

I’d be surprised if there weren’t at least a few sprained ankles and backs. It takes your breath away just to watch.
Maybe everyone was properly strapped in place. That saved them.
Literally freefalling down, down then ..SLAM!!
No doubt the parents were devastated seeing it happen.
I don’t know how common lawsuits are in India.
They would be sued into bankruptcy if that happened in the US.
I wouldn’t consider bottled water safe in India.
A drop ride at an amusement park?
Interesting.
That’s the thrill of riding it ... the thrill of danger.
Maybe they only paid to go up.
A lot of the bottled water is bottled by Coca Cola (Kinley)and Pepsi (Aquafina). Was safe for the million or so western tourists who used to visit India pre-Covid.
No worries.India’s population is growing faster than all western nations combined.
