Was Donald Trump our maligned savior deserving of a 2nd term in office or an abject failure, perhaps something in between? Today we seek to settle that debate. Styx and Dave Smith will face off to decide on what his legacy truly is.

Pretty good debate with compelling argument from both sides. I feel some of Trump’s accomplishments were glossed over especially with regard to how he crafts policy to effect an outcome such as remain in Mexico, Abraham accords, Nordstream 2 and NATO. Win some/lose some, but anyone thinking Trump is an idiot is clearly not paying attention or just delusional.

One thing Dave does not say ( not really part of the debate) is what his alternative is. It’s easy to say “I won’t support Trump in 2024” because xyz but who would do better (and has a chance in winning)?

More of a discussion than a debate. Loved it. I think Styx had a more accurate take but I can see both sides. Honestly amazing how good Trump did knowing now how much he was up against.

Dave, politics is the art of the possibility. Trump’s not perfect, but a hell of a lot better than the alternatives.

I understand why Dave is frustrated with Trump, but he’s also judging Trump from basically a tantrum. Lots of mindreading and silliness. Frankly lost a lot of respect for him over the course of the debate. Way too much emotional thinking.

Styx666 is a genius and knows how to have a debate. He can speak solo or in a group, composed and deliberate.

Styx scooped up this win with the clankiest spoon in his cupboard 🥄
Fantastic debate between two titans 💙

Dave is analyzing EVERYTHING from a hindsight perspective. You have to look through Trump’s actions through the lens of that point in time.

So Dave’s argument is basically, “Trump isn’t Ron Paul”.

Man - if only Trump had 2020-Hindsight as all of you do, he wouldn’t have made any mistakes at all. It’s almost like he didn’t have access to all of the same information and clear understanding that we have now - 2 years after all of this, 2 years of contemplating all of it and analyzing it. When considering Trump’s job and legacy as President you MUST - and this is absolutely critical - you MUST analyze it based on what the context of the situation was at the time and based on what was KNOWN AT THE TIME, not 2, 2-half + years later.

I respect both men. I do however feel like Styx had the better arguments and won my vote
Maligning Trump supported is a cheap trick. No one thinks he is a savior, flawless, or able to solve every problem. Generally, when someone wins an election, we expect to see that person in office. When denied via fraud it tends to destroy your faith in the system. That is the big problem. The system is corrupt. Beyond repair? It is seeming that way more and more.
And I find Dennis DeYoung incredibly annoying anyway.

This Dave Smith guy says Trump stood behind Fauci every day nodding to everything Fauci said for a year. Ummmmmmm. No. That was only early on and by mid March 2020 Trump benched Fauci. Trump didn’t do lockdownerism. In April, Trump issues guidelines for 30 days of social distancing guidelines, washing hands, staying home if sick, no shutdowns, no lockdowns, no mandates. Ron Destantis belive it or not issued a 30 day lockdown for everyone. https://www.businessinsider.com/coronavirus-florida-gov-ron-desantis-issues-statewide-shutdown-2020-4” On April 25: Fauci’s absence from recent coronavirus briefings draws notice: https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/white-house/fauci-s-absence-recent-coronavirus-briefings-draws-notice-n1192421
Fauci was only present for 1 of 7 covid briefings that week. In July Fauci says he hadn’t talked to Trump for 2 months. In July, CNN reports: Fauci is basically invisible now: https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/03/media/fauci-network-tv-appearances/index.html He said he didn’t bring anyone in to replace Fauci. August, Trump brings in Scott Atlas as Special Coronavirus Advisor to Trump. Trump brings in Soctt Atlas to counter Dr. Fauci:
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-fauci-coronavirus-white-house-scott-atlas-deborah-birx-a9671561.html Then there was a time Trump stopped doing the Covid briefings. Then when everyone got upset about no covid briefings he started doing them by himself. So people have a tendency to do revisionist history. Fauci did pop in a few times in later montyhs and was at the last briefing to say some words but he was only at the Covid briefings standing by Trump every day EARLY on when nobody had any idea what was going on. Fauci was on every podcast, show and airport radar every day but there was no stopping that, you would think a libertarian would understand freedom of speech. Trump did ban him from some cable TV shows.

One thing about this assertion that “Presidents tend to get worse in their second term” that Dave seems to miss is that this wouldn’t be a second, contiguous term. He will have had 4 years to reflect on all the mistakes made in the first, which would be unprecedented in modern history.
Daum. In the first five minutes Dave literally says that trump is responsible for lockdowns but then agrees that it was not him it was the governors … I don’t follow Dave . I’ve seen the other guy in a recorded show in the past ,,, I’ll keep watching I guess, lol , this Dave guy reminds me of a black piller , like you know his head isn’t in the sand , but what’s his agenda . It’s obviously not reasonable observation?
