Joe Biden's "soul of the nation" Independence Hall speech apparently didn't go over the way he thought it would go over with the voters.
That's the only conclusion one can reach now that he's walking back his grandly staged production's bloodcurdling message about President Trump's supporters being "threats to democracy."
According to the New York Post:
“Do you consider all Trump supporters to be a threat to this country?” a reporter asked Biden at the end of his only scheduled public remarks of the day.
“Come on, look, guys, you keep trying to make that case. I don’t consider any Trump supporter to be a threat to the country,” Biden said.
“I do think anyone who calls for the use of violence, fails to condemn violence when it is used, refuses to acknowledge when an election has been won, insists upon changing the way in which they can count votes, that is a threat to democracy.”
Biden added, “When people voted for Donald Trump and support him now, they weren’t voting for attacking the Capitol, they weren’t voting for overruling an election, they were voting for a philosophy he put forward.

Biden’s latest statement can be taken too ways.
1. They aren’t a threat, because they are not against us. or
2. They aren’t a threat, because I can defeat them.
Biden meant #2.

So I guess we can anticipate another speech where he takes on Hillary Clinton and Stacey Abrams for their refusals to accept the results of the 2016 elections?

I’d love a look at that speech’s poll numbers myself, not that anyone outside a very limited distribution is ever likely to get the ones they’re actually looking at and on which they’re taking action. Without even looking, though, I can pretty much tell how that one played in Peoria, and it isn’t pretty. The black on blood red theme with the Marines in the background, pumping fists, and shouted threats was all most people got out of the thing, largely because that’s all there was. Adolf Biden didn’t write the speech himself, of course, but somebody high up enough to have done so, did, and thought it was a good look. We’re accustomed to the Beltway crowd now running the country to be drastically out of touch, but this one is mind-blowing enough to alarm even his sycophants in the media, or some of the marginally sober ones at least. The rest aren’t much smarter than concentration camp guards anyway. It cannot be “walked back,” temporized, spun, or re-imagined, it’s on video and in transcripts and is what it was. Administration goons are stuck with pretending it didn’t happen. Some of them are truly stupid enough to believe their own lies.

I always read Monica. She lists a lot of things wrong with Joe Biden, including that, in that denial, he’s the F-up he’s always been.
I think though, she should have mentioned that, above all, Joe Biden is a coward. He made those remarks about us as fascists before a TV audience, speaking from a script and acting out his idea of rage by shouting with both fists raised.
Then, when it didn’t work out, he says he didn’t say those things, with no national TV platform and not near the coverage. Whether he made his denial because he’s a Lunatic, capital L, or because he made a strategic denial knowing it would not get the audience that a prime-time rant would, makes no difference. It’s Cowardice, either way.
I kinda believe those who opine that he was trying to incite violent acts. The Cowardice of this Lunatic is boundless. Next, he will hire some Antifans wearing Maga hats to burn down Independence Hall.
I used to think that nobody with half a brain would try the stuff the Lunatic-i-Chief does. But nearly every day he proves that half a brain is a feature, not a bug, of his presidential occupancy.
Biden escapes his caregivers and opened his mouth more than he should, backing down is not going to help him
His ‘walk back’ was so weird, it makes me wonder if there are ‘two Biden’s’
