Well, the one thing they have going for them is that monkeypox is not a new disease, and we already have proven effective vaccines that can build immunity to it. Though I’m not sure how effective those vaccines are going to be in a subgroup suffering from high rates of highly immunocompromised individuals.
There’s also the possibly that their intentionally reckless pattern of behavior might increase the possibilities that a new monkeypox variant that can evade the vaccines will emerge.
