No named tropical cyclones since early July through late August, 2022. Nothing of concern down the visible pipeline. But La Niña still strong. What gives?

La Nina, Saharan dust, and the droughts, not much moisture in the atmosphere.
At least we know DiCaprio’s yacht will be safe…
You’re right, I was mistaken but I knew it was late in the year for the first named storm and it was a very bad one, which really tore up South Florida, supposedly it was one of the reasons so many pythons got loose in the Everglades, might be a just an old wives’ tale for all know,
Actually, 8/24 is the 30th anniversary of Andrew.
My brother lived at 208 street and Cutler road, ground zero!
He was out of his house for 15 months, brutal.
My folks lived in Hialeah and were out of power for 2 weeks.
I lived in Hollywood and we lost power for 12 hours.
I was stuck working cleanup down there for a year
