Tropical cyclone lull near peak of season
08/23/22

Posted on 08/23/2022 10:21:41 AM PDT by cll

No named tropical cyclones since early July through late August, 2022. Nothing of concern down the visible pipeline. But La Niña still strong. What gives?

Thank Joe Biden and the Democrats.

Because of their numerous pro-environmental measures, they now have the ability to control the weather.

Just more evidence of a Climate Change Emergency.

I see it as just a sign that the weather is always changeable & we don’t change it, but leave it in the hands of The One who is capable. Hurricanes will likely show up in more or less severity, sooner or later.

I agree having lived in Florida all my life, it has been a quiet season, but remember Hurricane Andrew a Cat 5 storm that his South Florida in the 90’s happened in September, it was obviously the first named storm of the season, so it could still get busy.

This proves that climate change is real! More cyclones would prove that climate change is real, too! Everything proves that climate change is real. Nothing can ever disprove it. Climate change forever! Live in fear and send money.

Ma-on, a tropical storm and not a cyclone, just crossed northern Philippines and is heading toward China.

Not very strong but good rain for the crops.

Low Atlantic tropical storm activity blamed on dust from Sahaha Desert aloft in the atmosphere. Not sure why it has that effect, but that is what the meteorologist reports say.

It has seemed to me that we’ve had more stories of shark attacks on the East Coast in years when we’ve had little hurricane activity...

We are in a global kewling faze at the moment.

Sept. 10 is the peak and it is all downhill from there.

All is quite in the Atlantic. There’s a minor disturbance off the west coast of Africa with a less than 40% probability of strengthening. Anyways, peak Hurricane season is still a couple weeks away.

US cooling and high pressure build up in heart of hurricane season force convergence into coastal waters around US. Characteristic of phase 2 MJO look which we look like we are going in to. Models may suddenly spring to life with storms. Example 12z GFS

Makes sense. Who goes swimming in a hurricane?

I need the bad hurricanes to hold off for a couple more weeks. I want to go stick my toes in the sand and the Gulf soon.

It seems that some species sense changes in barometric pressure and swim out to avoid it:

Maybe they’re just not so close to shore when it’s ‘busy’ weather-wise.
