That would be a pita hearing my computer beep every couple seconds.

The downside is that the app opens up your computer to some other snoop. Can’t win for losing.

I use a “NoScript” browser extension that allows me to tell any given site what scripts I will allow. Some are needed most the time to see anything on the webpage. I always leave the google-analytics off. It doesn’t cause any issues with the page but it does stop their info gathering to an extent. Amazon-ad’s is another one that’s used a lot.
If you use it you will find it to be a pain for a while as you figure out what scripts are needed and what aren’t. There’s an option to allow all scripts on that site for those times I’m feeling lazy.
An interesting point is FR doesn’t have any scripts except the base one for FR. It’s rare to find that.

When I first read that, I didn't realize you were using the "pain in the " acronym and thought you were claiming that that your middle eastern bread could hear your computer. Shades of Maxwell Smart's shoe phone.

The world got along just fine without the internet. In fact, the world was a better place without the internet. Sadly, there seems to be no going back.

If you’re using Android better get some earplugs.

I actually got a Linux-based PinePhone to avoid Android. Unfortunately, besides being slow (which I can accept) itg is buggy, and good luck getting a carrier to help you with install if your SIM doesn't work out of the box.
I'd be interested in knowing if Linux replacing Android is any better.

Why Beep when you can very simply Block instead?
Kudos to Jim for few or no trackers on FR!

Linux, been around forever, is open source and has amassed a very large tech following since the geek community decided the world is fed up with the Punk Lords of Tech (Zuckerberg, Dorsey, Schmitt, Gates, etc.).
Jeff Peterson is one the leaders who started the Linux based takeover of tech. Started just recently, early 2021. They will get it done. They are a very sharp group and are dedicated.
