It is my understanding that when anyone had anything that might be considered "evidence" the military (the Air Force specifically) took it to determine if it had any value re: national defense.

That is generally true.

However, we now know for example in the Trinity case, that it was the Atomic Energy Commission that seized and hoarded the information.

The whole notion of “national defense” in this context is a caricature of human stupidity.

If these things are a risk to one country they are a risk to all—there is nothing “national” about it!

Yes, I have heard these same claims, which I attribute as contrived as hiding behind documents classified as too sensitive to declassify as they might create sever harm to national security. There are ways that any of the classified documents can be released without jeopardizing national security or giving away methods of attainment.

I mean, who are we alerting with this evidence, aliens not from this earth? If they exist, i suspect they know they exist, don't you? 🙂
