On a cracker with hot sauce on top.

I don’t buy them much because I’ve never seen anything but Product of China.

I like them but haven’t had them for a long time. I think maybe the last time I had them was when my wife was pregnant and found the smell disagreeable. She told me to get my stinking can out of the house, and it took me a second to figure out what she meant. Now that she is past childbearing years, I might pick some up. She liked them too when she wasn’t pregnant.

Sardines is my lunch probably 90% of the time. Never had them for breakfast though I've thought about putting them in an omelette from time to time. Haven't gone through with it yet.

My breakfast is boringly the exact same. Three farm raised eggs pan-fried over-easy in Kerrygold butter and fresh ground pepper. Siggi's triple fat yogurt with fresh berries swirled in (blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, or strawberries depending on season).

So my breakfast and lunch is pretty much perfect from a nutritional standpoint. At dinner, I let it rip and eat whatever. I've been experimenting with squirrel meat but I'll save that for another post later.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE sardines. I don’t know the best brand to buy. I prefer them in olive oil. If anyone has recommendations on the best brands I’m all ears!

My Top 5 Sardine brands:

King Oscar
Nuri
Matiz
Wild Planet
Season

I often buy Wild Planet and Season when they are on sale but the other three are almost never on sale because they are such premium brands.

☺️I don’t care what anyone says, I love sardines. I probably ruin any nutritional value because I eat a roll of Ritz crackers with them. It’s a feast.

I don't often have crackers with my sardines but when I do, it is with Carr's table water crackers.

If I know that I won’t be talking face to face with anybody for a few hours, I will sometimes put sardines on top of top ramen or in a Cup-A-Soup.

When I'm at my work cafeteria, I will get a plain garden salad with no dressing and then dump a tin of King Oscar sardines (that I had in my pocket) on top. This will sometimes cause some co-workers to move to another table!

I saw a youtube video where I guy was using sardines as a fertilizer for plants. He would open a can of sardines and put one sardine in the soil under the plant.

when I saw the packaging on King Oscar in another post I remembered that’s the one I’ve bought the most. I have to have bone in, skin on in oil and it’s not easy to find in other brands. I’ll have to look for Nuri and Matiz and check them out.

Thanks for the tips!

Does cup noodles taste the same to you? It seems like they changed the formula, and not for the better.

Sardines are a very underrated food,

Yes they are.

I crack open a can quite often, sometimes 2 or 3 a week.

I prefer them lightly smoked or mustard sauce.
