I climbed Rucu Pichincha while climbing in Ecuador in the early 1990s. It was a warmup before higher peaks Cayambe, Cotopaxi and Chimborazo. Pichincha only had steep sections near the summit and did not seem very dangerous. But, if suffering from altitude sickness it could become dangerous due to equilibrium loss.

When I lived in NM I worked with a guy whose last name was Chiles. It was pronounced “chyles.” We had some fun with that.
Pichincha is higher than Mt. Whitney, the highest peak in the 48 contiguous states (which is 4,421 meters high).
There is a Chiles Valley in northern California (near Napa Valley), presumably named for an early settler.
