“1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR “ Same car Stirling Moss drove in the 1955 Mille Miglia. Covered 990 miles of rural Italian roads with no guard rails or preparation as a race course at an average speed of 97.96 mph. By all accounts one of the most remarkable driving performances of all time, up there with Fangio at the Nürburgring in 1957.
In both cases the cars had no aerodynamics and the fastest way through most corners was sideways.

Had a friend in high school who built a kit ac cobra- he had an original engine, but the body was roached so,he bought a kit and built it. In video games, the ac cobra is wicked powerful, but super slides. Not,sure if it’s that way in real life, but if so, wow- kudos to those who raced them. I never did get a chance to ride in the cobra, friend moved away soon after he built it.
