The impossible burger is pretty tasty. I can’t tell the difference at all. Of course, I’ll never be a vegetarian or vegan. But if it’s tasty and better for you, why not. I’d imagine when 2 percent milk came out, I bet people were pissed off thinking it was some kind government undercover conspiracy. People freak at so much nonsense and ignore the real issues.
I don’t think it’s better for you it’s highly processed and I have read the stats which I didn’t memorize - something like higher cal,
Higher trans fats higher sodium or similar.
And so they'll start using it instead of meat without even bothering to tell you.
Complete loss of taste is one of the side effects of Covid.
Meat substitutes have been around for a long time. Because a percentage of our population have food restrictions for religious or health reasons. I believe Impossible Foods has used science to find out what makes a meat taste like meat, and they have developed a process where this flavor can be had without crossing over into the meat category. I agree that the taste of an Impossible burger is satisfactory — no, its not quite as tasty as beef; but Impossible sausage is a tasty as a pork sausage — good for you Impossible Scientists.
But no one needs to push this new technology, the climate enthusiasts believe it will help reduce the CO2 emissions, but meat is not a major issue with that. Nuclear power will reduce the CO2 emissions and in the meantime, we can eat what we want. (I eat some Impossible Food products, but I eat far more meat (normal) products at this time. In the future, who knows)
A lot of the time the additives they put into the “healthy” alternative is worse for you than the original.
