Just shortly after the news that one in three Burger King burgers sold in Belgium is meat-free, and in some locations even one in two, BK reveals that from now on, almost the entire Burger King range, including the popular classics, will be served on a plant-based basis in Austria.
The fast-food giant has already demonstrated what the future could look like in an experiment in a restaurant in Vienna’s Margaretengürtel, where plant-based products became the new normal. Those who ordered without expressing a special request for “meat” received a veggie burger. And those who wanted to eat the popular meat dishes had to say so explicitly.
Since 12th July, the campaign slogan “Normal or with meat?” can be read throughout Austria and on social media. The question has already triggered heated debates on the internet. The associated campaign video on Instagram and YouTube generated almost 20,000 views on the first day under the hashtag #normalodermitfleisch.

Tried it once and it was awful. Fat content worse than a real meat burger...
Wait until they add “Crispy Worms” as an option to the Veggie Burger.
Not in Texas, I’m pretty sure. 😄
I’d say “normal or virtue-signaling?” LOL
Would you like bugs with that?
“That’s not a Burger, THIS is a burger, mate.”
Sneaking it in there, that’s the ticket.
Some may not even know the ‘burger’ is plant based till later. The sandwich will come out with colorful, photos of an appetizing meal and at a temporary discount!
Tuesday is 2 ‘Happy-Burgers’ for the price of 1 Day. Come & Get Em!
I find it cheaper to get a steak and grill it than to get fast food.
You vill eat zee boogs:
“Drink up: Cockroach milk is the protein drink you didn’t know you’ve been missing”
https://www.cnn.com/2016/07/27/health/cockroach-milk
The impossible burger is pretty tasty. I can’t tell the difference at all. Of course, I’ll never be a vegetarian or vegan. But if it’s tasty and better for you, why not. I’d imagine when 2 percent milk came out, I bet people were pissed off thinking it was some kind government undercover conspiracy. People freak at so much nonsense and ignore the real issues.
Maybe but this is Austria. Austria and the Netherlands are two different countries. It’s understandable that you’d confuse them and think their one in the same country. Most Americans are horrible with world geography and some think Europe is all one country. Don’t fret, your in good company.
I’d walk. No way I’m enabling a company that has “Burger” in the name yet defaults to no actual meat in it.
And it’s Belgium and not Austria. See how confusing it can be.
I don’t think it’s better for you it’s highly processed and I have read the stats which I didn’t memorize - something like higher cal,
Higher trans fats higher sodium or similar.
I was not comparing the two. I can find them on a map with no problem. My point was while one stupid country is removing meat to go green and another stupid country is destroying the livelihood of farmers to go green seems counterproductive.
TIME headline 29 July 2022 - “Farmer Protests in the Netherlands Show Just How Messy the Climate Transition ... against the government’s nitrogen policy will be.”
The article also calls them the Dutch which ain’t Belgium.
Oh you are probably right. Forgot about the crap they add.
I assume, unless explicitly requested, you should pay with leaves.
That’s when you go in and order a “BURGER”. When they give you a handful of twigs and grass clippings on a bun, you sue them for “substantial compensation.” They need to change their name to Grass Clippings King to avoid being sued for fraud.
These “plant proteins” are made mostly from beans that are planted, harvested and taken to market with diesel powered machinery no different than corn or soy beans. Those beans must be cooked, processed and formed into “meat like” patties or nuggets. Doesn’t this give meat substitutes a large carbon footprint? As for concerns about cow farts causing climate change likely 40 million Buffalo used to roam the Great Plains 200 years ago presumably farting profusely yet where was the climate change from that?
