So I carry a container of baby powder in my gig bag. At first I used the talc-based powder, but it gummed up like clots and that was horrible. Then I tried using the cornstarch-based powder and it is great.
I also discovered as I got older that the cornstarch powder works better than the talc powder when my crotch gets sweaty during a gig and I want to dry it out.
So as far as I'm concerned the cornstarch is the way to go.
If that also happens to keep me from getting cancer, fine.
I learned from my dad to put it in your boots before you wear them. Cuts down on sweat, nad helps put them on or take them off...
Wasn’t the allegation that it wasn’t the talcum powder itself but other ingredients that supposedly got mixed in?
I use the version of J&J baby powder now sold in stores, so it must now be safe if it’s being sold in U.S. stores. It’s great for dusting after a shower, as a previous poster said. It clears up a rash if redness starts in sweaty places like under a woman’s breast. It has a pleasant aroma.
Great, no more sweaty dude moobs. Lol.
Back in the late sixties all of us kids in the neighborhood would watch the city truck fog the trees with DDT to kill the mosquitoes. I guess the saying “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” is true.
Thanks for the tip. Appreciate it.
Nah. Caving to lawyers. It’s like all the Camp Lejune fishing going on.
Burn pits from decades ago? Mesothelioma ads about the 50s?
Ruining a decades old brand because of lawyers and greed. What’s next? Now Coke?
Those rashes can be fungal. I have started getting them over the past two years
I believe mine are related to internal where something is amiss.
Perhaps overgrowth of yeast
So there are a number of things I try..including Nystatin powder being careful not to breathe it in
The best thing that seems to help is a red light from Mito ...of course I might be giving myself cancer.
In theory the omentum might stop your ovarian cancer from spreading to other organs for a period of time. In practice..you would have to catch it while it is still in that stop gap.
I suspect that rarely happens because it is most often not caught until it effects other organs
I advocate at risk patients getting periodic ultra sounds even if insurance doesn’t pay for it. It might help save your life
Also there is a test that might red flag you sooner if you are in menopause
Inhibin tests.
A bad inhibin test does not mean you have cancer but does mean you should now get to work to see what may be happening
A new hazard of cornstarch, an absorbable dusting powder
... It was found that in contaminated wounds, cornstarch enhanced the growth of bacteria and elicited exaggerated inflammatory responses as measured by wound induration.
Considering where the cornstarch is going, not sure how good application of that is, especially if the baby has developed a diaper rash...
We never used it much. Found that as long as we kept the babies in dry diapers, they never got a rash. I’m thin so when I sweat, there’s no chafing.
I remember that too. It wouldn’t have been possible to go outdoors without that treatment.
